I get that for the FEW, the top tier high skill players this is an issue. For me and many others of lower skill there are plenty of matches within my own region to make for relatively lag free play. The worst connection I usually see is from one of my FRIENDS, who I know lives in a small town which has not yet been upgraded to super fast broadband (yes, genuine infrastructure issues rather than lagswitching - it's a thing). So for me, I can't be sure whether the lag is being caused by local infrastructure or by SBMM - what I do know is that players who are stuck on these older connection infrastructures aren't going to get a better ping ANYWHERE but their local servers, so people who are geographically near them are going to get their lag to deal with, regardless. Don't always assume that just because someone has a red bar it is because they are as skilled as you but on another continent...
