Skill based is fine, they just need to be much more strict on the connection. Having it be connection based only won't save you from good players. I'm willing to bet I'm one of them, at least I can say I try pretty hard to win. Other than that frankly 200 ping should be the highest anyone is allowed to be at. If any more you can't play multiplayer.
--------Though I'd be much more strict than that, and max it at 100. Depends on the sort of game really, though I'll bet a shooter would ask for a lot less. This is all unless they make something up where those with high ping connect with each other and have a terrible time playing. I believe valve is doing this sort of thing I can't recall though.
Anyway to those who would say that they paid money to play, yeah you did. So did I and frankly the rules are made by bungie that's what you paid for. Also I wouldn't care if this left me out entirely. I'd rather not play a game that's not playing properly.

Skill based gets old fast when you're sweating constantly

Being PUB stomped gets old when you are losing constantly.

Year one I lost a lot because my teammates weren't good I was always top three

Well as I was trying to say, not having it won't save you. No matter how you do it, try hards will be there. Unless it's the win ratio that the game aggressively tries to keep at 50% we are talking about. Otherwise I'm one of these so called try hards I bet, and I'm gonna give people a hard time at least.

SBMM makes is flawed and why most people hate it is because it matches you up with people "equal" to your skill right? But it negates the fact those players could be across the continent from you and since we have a P2P connection and no dedicated servers then it will start to lag because of how far away people are. So, the more skilled you are, the further it's going to be in order to find you someone (further as in people further away from you) and the further you are, the more lag you are going to feel. :) hope this helps

Then ask for dedicated servers not for taking sbmm down

Regardless of that though you do bring up a good point in that we shouldn't be connecting with people too far away. Which I'd like to think being more strict on the connection would aid if not outright solve. Though being rather ignorant I can't say. Sorry if I was too much of a dillweed there.
