If you can post a source that states your light lvl determines who you're matched up against, that'd be great. I have never heard or seen that, not once. I've played in every IB set aside from maybe 3 times. The matchmaking previously was set on connections. Not your light lvl...
Okay, if you think people wouldn't step into ranked matchmaking:
A) then why did people chose to play it on Halo
B) add incentives to playing the ranked playlists. Increased drop rates, etc.

I didn't say that it worked, but on a lot of different forums this was something suggested a lot. For the sake of finding out if this worked, I equipped a lower level gun bringing my light down to about 300. I ran this way for 3 matches. I was matched with no higher light then 307. I then kicked my light back to my 317, and was not matched with a light level lower then 309. Maybe it was just who was on at the time, but it sure seemed to me that it did make a difference.

Last IB all of my characters were ran at 317+ every match. I still saw a handful of matches where the opposite team would have lower than 310's. I honestly don't think it makes any difference at all.

Then try it.

Why would I try doing that when I've already seen a variation of light lvls when I was 317+ ? There were several cases where people would be in teams of 2-6 and they had their friends of different light lvls. Your own light lvl makes absolutely no difference outside of the small dmg output. If that had been the case, it would been all over this forum and last IB would've been a complete mess.

Not everything gets put on the Bungie fourms. Simply because if it gives an advantage, and goes on the forum, it gets "fixed". I didn't think it would make any difference, but in my experience, it did. I only played 3 matches that way, and I can't say that gives it proof of working, but those 3 matches were filled with lower light players. With this being posted now, I guess more will try doing this, with that in mind I regret saying anything about it, but I am sure if more try it, the forums will now tell the tale.
