It is the issue, most just don't want to admit it. Most are the same people that turn their light level down in Iron Banner to try to get matched with lower light people. Tell me where the fun is in loosing every match because you are not as skilled as others you are playing against? If SBMM was not forced, you would never choose it because it would make you earn your K/D. PVPers totally destroyed Destiny in my opinion. Most nerfs were caused by them, because a noob could use a weapon they did not have, and kick their ass with it. They didn't deserve the kills they were getting because it was only because of the weapon power. I hope Bungie keeps SBMM, as it makes people with equal skill, face people with equal skill. Whats so damn unfair about that?

Look, you've hardly played any crucible. Being as I am a top 1% player, this really isn't about level of competition. I enjoy having close intense games, but I also enjoy having relaxing games where I can mess around, try out new weapons, have some fun with NLB, etc. like we could for all of year one. Has my k/d gone down a bit since TTK? Not really. Has my level of fun changed? Absolutely The only option now is to try hard all the time. It's exhausting. It makes us salty and angry. Now a large part of why it makes us salty is that our matchmaking pool of equally skilled players is rather small. Since the game prioritizes skill, we are constantly playing lagging players which completely negates the whole point of the matchmaking attempting to get equally skilled players together. What's seriously sad though, is that ToO aside from games 7-9, is the most relaxing place in the crucible generally for good players. How the matchmaking ran before the taken King was fine. They are legitimately losing players over this because it sucks. Good players will always be good. SBMM is fine in a ranked playlist or the iron banner. It's not fine in a game with no ranked playlists and already questionable net code The skill based matchmaking is also going to increase the amount of try hard required for lower tier players so I'm not sure why you think that it will make your crucible experience better. BTW the only way to get better is to play and play better players is the fastest way to get better

  • What you don't understand is that all top 1% players are top 1% for a reason. The difference is we're pretty much capped on skill the rest is all about communication. It's not earning a K/D because all top 1% players suffer not just some. We all go down. Bottom tier remains bottom tier. Top tier will remain top tier but have nothing to show for it.

  • If you can post a source that states your light lvl determines who you're matched up against, that'd be great. I have never heard or seen that, not once. I've played in every IB set aside from maybe 3 times. The matchmaking previously was set on connections. Not your light lvl... Okay, if you think people wouldn't step into ranked matchmaking: A) then why did people chose to play it on Halo B) add incentives to playing the ranked playlists. Increased drop rates, etc.

  • I didn't say that it worked, but on a lot of different forums this was something suggested a lot. For the sake of finding out if this worked, I equipped a lower level gun bringing my light down to about 300. I ran this way for 3 matches. I was matched with no higher light then 307. I then kicked my light back to my 317, and was not matched with a light level lower then 309. Maybe it was just who was on at the time, but it sure seemed to me that it did make a difference.

  • Last IB all of my characters were ran at 317+ every match. I still saw a handful of matches where the opposite team would have lower than 310's. I honestly don't think it makes any difference at all.

  • Then try it.

  • Why would I try doing that when I've already seen a variation of light lvls when I was 317+ ? There were several cases where people would be in teams of 2-6 and they had their friends of different light lvls. Your own light lvl makes absolutely no difference outside of the small dmg output. If that had been the case, it would been all over this forum and last IB would've been a complete mess.

  • Not everything gets put on the Bungie fourms. Simply because if it gives an advantage, and goes on the forum, it gets "fixed". I didn't think it would make any difference, but in my experience, it did. I only played 3 matches that way, and I can't say that gives it proof of working, but those 3 matches were filled with lower light players. With this being posted now, I guess more will try doing this, with that in mind I regret saying anything about it, but I am sure if more try it, the forums will now tell the tale.
