I agree. I support sbmm I am crap in crucible and I admit it. I only played for a short time in vanilla and then quit because I wasn't getting anything out of it. I have now restarted to clear quests and enjoy it because I am not getting stomped every few seconds All those people who were complaining about scrubs who were dragging their team down or didn't know what zones to capture and which ones to leave should also support it as now they should be teamed with people who know what they are doing Sbmm allows new or lower skilled players to play against people with a similar skill level and improve so they can move up players with higher skill. If you die every few seconds you don't get a chance to improve The only bad things about it are the time it takes to get a match and the lag. I can see that Bungie has attempted to sort out the lag issue. If you look at the team roster while you are flying in you can often see a large number of red bars which all go green with only a few poor connections. I believe they are selecting a "host" out of all the players which will minimise the lag By the way, k/d means nothing these days as scrubs can get a reasonable k/d as they are playing against other scrubs. It doesn't mean they are better than people who play against higher skilled people but may have a lower k/d

  • I hope you enjoy your SBMM crucible with the 20 players left playing. Most gamers will not play laggy games...they move on.

  • If you noticed, I dealt with the issue of lag and match making times separately. The idea of sbmm is good but it needs a bit of work to deal with the other issues. What this does mean is that people who benefit from manipulating their connection (lag switching) to win will be in the groups with the higher skilled people. Maybe the lag you are seeing is just the fact that you are matched with more cheaters I rarely see cases of lag when I play. That's is one of the benefits of being a pvp scrub If sbmm does help bring more people into the crucible, you may find this helps reduce matchmaking times and Bungie can use connection as a secondary feature and the lag times will reduce. This will take a couple of months as the new scrubs get better and get matched against people with better skills

  • well said and I think even bungie realizes k/d is irrelevant I think it's all about your elo rating now, and I have a feeling that's what determines matchmaking

  • Some version of that. They said they use a different rating for some of the events. I think these are the events where scoring is based on a goal not just killing I have seen messages in matchmaking where they say they are breaking up team (usually after a particularly good or bad match). This is when they move you up or down a league and you can see there is a difference in the skill level in the next match

  • yeah, elo rating is based on wins. it compares your teams avg elo to your opponents avg elo and it's per playlist, so I definitely think that's more relevant than k/d

  • There are sites which will calculate your elo (or other measures). These don't seem to do it based on individual events so they can only be used as a rough guide Also I don't know whether Bungie calculates it for each character separately. How someone does with their main might be completely different from how they do with one of the other classes

  • Ok. I only looked at them briefly; I didn't realise that they were per playlist
