Um... no. according to your logic of one death for every kill, 1.0 KDR in and of itself, does not mean you're above average. One would need Bungie's data to find where average lies. You may be right that 1.0 is above average, but not by your logic. I suspect there are other factors that lead us to the true number(s).

  • Please explain where the flaw in my logic is, if you're going to say it's wrong

  • Because global KDR isn't a statistic, nor is it an average. You would have to take into account all destiny players' KDR to get an average. This would create a bell curve of KDR, which would give you your above average KDRs, as well as your garbage and elite. So technically you were wrong, but I get what you're saying. I would venture to say 1.0 is close to the average KDR, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's a little higher. Either way, I completely agree with your point of the whole thread. KDR is an irrelevant statistic in my opinion. Most destiny players roll with new teams every time they play (including myself), so I don't see it very fair to hold it against people. A team of all .9s that play consistently together would probably average close to a 1.3+ together. It's why you see so many incredible PVP players. Most play with the same team consistently. Good on you though my friend.

Dude, statistics. It's pretty basic stuff, perhaps, not even college level. Let's take five people, one of whom is really bad in crucible and two who are very good. Have the very good people kill the very bad person many many many many times. The middle folk kill the very bad folk many many many times. and the bad person kill almost no one or no one, and the middle folk kill the really good folk just a few times. Now, I could assign numbers and do the math, but I think you can too and will find, statistically, that the average is higher than 1.0. Again, we would need Bungie's numbers to ascertain where the actual average lies, and to figure out how they come up with an average, e.g. do assists factor in, how are they balanced across crucible modes; there can be myriad data points to consider. Also, be sure what you mean by average as opposed to median, mode, and mean and which pool of guardians are being measured in the numbers. It is an interesting topic. I'd love to see the data.

  • I understand how a bell curve works, I would love to see the actual bell curve for destiny kdr, both split by platform, and combined to a global bell curve as well
