GUARDIAN PURGE WEEK SPECIAL EVENT
So for those who havent seen the 52nd Planet Destiny podcast, Pope Bear brought up a really really gnarly epic fücking ridiculously fun sounding special event idea for destiny (@ around 1:07:00) : PURGE WEEK. pledge your allegiance to a faction and begin you normal week off except all grounds (should you choose to participate) are all PvP.
Just imagine; the weekly refresh comes and you sign into your character. The notification for the special event week pops up on the in orbit screen: "Purge Week is ACTIVE" you are then asked whether you want to participate in this event or not and clicking either one, continue on with your day. you either hop straight into continuing your quest or go to the tower to grab some bounties. You spawn into the tower but there's a problem: your screen is on first person mode with and gun and the HUD. You realize you chose to participate. You look all around and there are guardians killing each other mindlessly. Should you stay and fight or escape to the bounty tracker like you intended to in the first place?
The Reef, patrol areas, all the open social spaces are plagued with guardians killing and killing with no remorse. Engrams drop, your ghost shell is generating hundreds of glimmer as you kill titan after titan.
After a week, the average kills per each person pledged to a faction are tallied up and each participant receives 200 rep and the winners get a free faction package. Comment whether not you like this idea or what tweaks there should be

Your on a patrol map, teams of 3 or 6, just hunting each other down. No extra enemies (ads) or anything too special. Just pure combat.

1 ReplyUhmm no. There's a reason why I don't play much PvP. I don't want to get shot during patrol. Also everyone knows that most people are with DO for their shaders. Great idea, but I wouldn't participate.

This would be good as a crucible playlist, called "Faction War" coming weekly, being put in the faction you have an alliance with. You're in teams of six, put into a random patrol area. No ads or chests, so yeah. That's how I feel like it should go if it happens. -
Then, that Friday, xur sells twighlight garrison, red death, tarantella, and and the warlock helm that improves blink. Everyone would camp xur to stop others from getting to him :p

They would have to add a 5 to 10 sec spawn shield so you could avoid the campers. Jump on that sparrow and run for cover!!!!

I love it. I would first take a leisurely stroll to the bounty vendor to collect followed by shooting him in the face. Next on my list is all the other npc vendors except cade 6 and the dead orbit dude. Then I will actually enjoy myself in a fun pvp mode. Rules should be 1 primary and no nades.

Just imagine all the new players unknowingly click yes and being farmed in the tower by all the year one players.

3 RepliesThis would make the game almost impossible to play in any sort of meaningful way. You'd have people posted up spawn killing at the tower and every planet just to farm glimmer and satisfy their little troll desires. It would, however, purge a lot of players from the game.

That would be crazy! No respawn in the given purge area or return for the week if you die while the purge is on

7 RepliesI've heard of ideas like this. It's interesting idk about making it social spaces. Just patrol zones would work. What if we called it "the faction wars" made every patrol pvp/pve and made every chest in patrol a chance to be an exotic chest giving legendary and exotic gear randomly. And then guardians repping different factions goto war. Fighting for loot in the chests. At the end of the week the winner is decided by which faction got the most kills/chests.
