Why do certain "groups" of people generally smoke a certain type of cigarette?
This is something i've always been curious about...
[b][u]In my time working retail, i have noticed:[/u][/b]
-African Americans typically smoke Newport
-Asians typically smoke Camel Menthol Silver
-Caucasians typically smoke Marlboro Gold
-Hispanics typically smoke Marlboro Red
-Hipsters and Hippies typically smoke American Spirit
-Trashy people typically smoke Waves
-Older White Women typically smoke Virginia Slim (Purse Pack)
Obviously it isn't always this way, but most of the time this is pretty accurate where i work.
Has anyone noticed this? And if so, [b]why do you think this happens?[/b]

2 RepliesPeople tend to be creatures of habit & many will stick to the brand they first try! Combine that with social acceptance ie if your peers smoke a specific brand you're more likely to buy that brand so you "fit in"

Im Persian so idk where I would fit, but I smoke camel crush or #9's. And my fiancé smokes newports but he's Italian. I make him smoke camels cuz I don't like newports. And I don't like buying two packs. Tehehe. But I think it's about the taste? And how strong you want it. I think of it like coffee.

Im white, smoked newport shorts for 8 years then switched to marlboro smooth shorts. My best friend is white & has been smoking newps for 20+ years.

My parents are white and they smoke marlboros. I do t know many other smokers though so I can't speak for the rest of them
