It 'flopped' due to your astronomically high expectations. The game went exactly as EA had planned. People are still buying the game and the DLC packs. In that case, it did not flop. And that's the problem with games nowadays. Triple A publishers are putting out subpar games with massive amounts of DLC, and people are buying them no matter what.
