You need to be at least 290-295 light for raiding. Make sure you are at maximum light before opening engrams - this will help push you towards a higher overall light level. Grind some strikes or crucible. Court of Oryx isn't a bad option either. No offense but you have to somewhat earn your light level through grinding just like 95% of the people who played The Taken King on day one.
