The only 320 gear you can get, from Trials is the primary you get from going to the Lighthouse.
I actually got better gear out of the last Iron Bannor.
I did get one piece of Exotic Armor at 314 from a Trials package.
So I would say no it is not equivalent.

It's still high end light gear so it can be classed as raid gear but I guess you're still at the mercy of RNGesus

You can get gear from 300 to 310 from the Nightfall, is that end game?

Yeah it doesn't have matchmaking and bungie made it clear that endgame activities don't have matchmaking
