Petition to remove Trials of Osiris from the game (not #satire)
Let me start by saying that I have absolutely nothing against the game mode itself other than its lack of matchmaking, but unfortunately the players who participate in Trials continually destroy the game for everyone else. I know it's a radical suggestion to remove an entire game type because of player behavior, but I'm not sure anyone is going to want to keep playing the shell of a game that Trials players leave the rest of us.
The problem is and always will be nerfs.
Since Trials inception, it has easily been the single biggest contributor to nerf posts on these forums.
- Thorn was essentially erased from this game because of Trials.
- Hand Cannons were AR'd because of Trials.
- Pulse Rifles just got boned [i]because of Trials[/i].
- Sunbreakers were probably doomed anyway, but the loudest cries for nerfs... Trials.
And as bad as all those were, now I'm seeing posts crying that Trials matches aren't fair because of MIDA and Truth.
Seriously go find a Chinese hell to burn in if you're going to cry about MIDA and Truth. The point of this game was supposed to be becoming more powerful and finding more powerful and awesome weapons. MIDA has [i]always[/i] been a great counter to any "God weapon" in this game, not because it's OP, but because it's so well balanced and versatile from mid to long range.
But rather than find counters like MIDA, rather than grind for your own "God weapons" if you feel you can't compete, rather than get fracking good, we've systematically destroyed every weapon and class that was ever fun in this game.
Go shoot a goddamn Fusion Rifle. They're complete garbage. Collateral damage from the constant dicking over of weapons, all to "balance" one stupid PvP mode that almost no one plays.
Someone post those pathetic numbers they put up a month or so ago about how few players actually compete in ToO and the infinitesimal number that have actually gone to the Lighthouse.
So we're going to have all our weapons ruined in not only PvP, but PvE as well so probably less than 5% of the player base don't cry? I just don't get your thought process here Bungie.
I can tell you this though, there's not one reasonable or remotely valid reason to nerf Truth, MIDA or Scouts and if that unbelievably stupid thought crosses Jon Wisnewski's mind then it's time to pull the plug on Trials.
And to anyone who enjoys Trials, I'm sorry but there would be no one to blame but yourselves. Better you lose your game mode than be allowed to keep dragging the rest of this game down with your incessant crying for nerfs.

If they nerf Mida for any reason it's time to pull the plug on this game. Jon needs to learn two things, how to do math, and the difference between a buff and a nerf for my poor fusions.

Trials wouldn't bother me as much if damn near ever sniper in the game didn't have aim assist. But they do and so almost everyone uses a sniper. But there are always ways to beat a problem. Got a team of snipers who F'ed you up first round? Switch to shot guns, take an alt route to their location and be extremely aggressive. They fold damn near every time. And I play a Titan so no, I don't blink shotgun anyone. Just some good old fashion flanking and surgical shotgun work.

Also no one even asked for fusions to be nerfed, bungie have done that all on their own. You've clearly never played an mmo type game before because balancing patches are part of its nature.

I agree to an extent. But I think the bigger issue is that Bungie can't quite seem to nail the weapon balance completely. I gather it would be difficult to do, but they are fairly experienced at making games. I've only recently started playing trials and those I know don't complain more than anyone else who PvP's.

But I can't agree with anyone who demands that game modes or content be [u][b]removed[/b][/u] from this game. I'm shite at PVP and have no problem dealing with the fact that I'll never get to the Lighthouse. I would never ask for Trials to be removed because I'm not good at it or because so many "nerf it" posts are generated by butt hurt players who can't cope with losing sometimes. The same can be said of SRL. Yes I play Sparrow Racing, I win a few - I lose more and I agree it can be infuriating at the best of times, being spun out by a blade of grass and going from first place to dead last. Again not an issue - as K/D, win/loss stats mean nothing to me. But when I see posts and threads on these forums demanding the removal of SRL from Destiny, because Mr X can't stand it as a game mode or is butt hurt at not being the "Michael Schumacher" of Sparrow racing. I'm literally thinking WTF? People are legitamately complaining about the lack of content in Destiny, [b]Sparrow Racing should become a permanent part of this game[/b], [i]yet we have others actively demanding it be binned because of X, Y or Z[/i]. What people should be asking Bungie to do is: [b]STOP NERFING OUR GEAR![/b] [b]STOP CATERING TO PVP "NERF IT" POSTS.[/b] [b]No one should ever demand that Bungie cut content.[/b]

To be honest, it doesn't make sense to nerf things due to trials. Trials is for the best players to make it to the top. The point was to make it difficult and competitive. If trials was meant to be balanced then they should turn off that ranked benefits. Trials is basically to grind out to get the best weapons and be the highest light to achieve greatness and become legend amongst fellow guardians.

8 RepliesWhat would the different be in removing trials rather than just not playing it? People playing trials does not affect you at all. It's your choice to play it. If you don't like it, then you can easily stop playing. It will be as if they removed it from the game specifically for you! The gear earned through trials isn't even that good anyway. It gives nobody an advantage over another.

4 RepliesWhile I do not agree with removing an entire portion of the game, you make a sound argument that I can find no flaws with. I would only like to point out that many people don't play trials because they have YET to get any good 310+ weapons with the perks that they want/need to be successful in Trials (or even Iron Banner). Reintroducing gun rolling again would allow people to get weapons that they like, which would remove one of the barriers to playing trials. But this isn't a post on why trials has so few players, but on the attitude of those who DO play trials. And on this topic I must concur, but I don't think the answer is removing the game mode. That would be like removing raids because of LFG Elitism. People are always going to be stupid jerks. Bungie's problem is that the jerks and crucibabies are the only ones they listen to. :/

3 RepliesAgree with you Sol,but the only thing that I dont follow is removing game content, better yet make ToO like SRL everyone has the same -blam!-ing load out, balance at its best heck give them the same -blam!-ing pistol to all of them and let the skill sort the goods from the bads,problem solved no more op weapons or op classes, everyone has the same chance to win.

Most of the complaints peak around Iron Banner time. Thorn was directly attributed to Trials I'll give you that. Honestly I think you're missing the real issue here. The real issue being that bungie doesn't balance when they try a "re-balancing". Every time people gravitate towards a weapon or weapon class, it's down to how the game is programmed, whether by intent or by accident. PRs were really powerful since The Dark Blows DLC, but because of Thorn etc they were overlooked. Now that they have been nerfed we are waiting to see what the new go-to weapon will be, personally I am thinking it'll be The Last Word and MIDA. Personally I have taken to Fabian Strategy as it's epic now. My point is perhaps people should be asking Bungie to actually balance things when they...you know....try to balance things.

7 RepliesI dont understand why weaponry for PVP and PVE cant be seperated. Have crucible only weapons and leave the PVE weapons in PVE. or make exotics not accessible in PVP and that will solve a shit ton of problems

You could argue that you should remove the whole PVP of the game because it generates nerfs because of posts about it. However, where were the posts complaining about black hammer? Or the posts complaining about icebreaker? Those nerfs were generated by bungie without the need of nerf posts they were nerfed because the developper team has a particular vision about the game. Nerf posts are not the only reason bungie nerf weapons. There is a whole thought process behind nerfs and they have access to a lot of numbers we don't have access to. There is also a lot of reasons why they make nerfs in a certain way. As an example, the AR damage nerf which made ARs unusable was caused by the fact that they couldn't reduce the distance of damage dropoff without reducing the aim assist because the aim assist stat is part of the range stat. So it was either leave ARs dominant in the crucible during ages, make them lack range and almost impossible to aim but have high damage, or make them do less damage than what they should do but on a longer range than they should. None of those situations were the best, but they did as best as they could. It is also the reason why shotguns could not have a range nerf before that. Truth is: they know a lot more things than we do and they have technical limits that we don't know about. And their vision is to have a very good balance. But it takes time to get things working technically because of reasons part of game programming.

2 RepliesI COMPLETELY agree. ToO has managed to drive nerfs that affect large swaths of the game just for a tiny percentage of players. It's also managed to created some really unhealthy negative personalities. Destiny PvP community is on of the most toxic, hateful communities I've ever witnessed. Balancing for the 1% hasn't worked for any system... Trickle down balancing doesn't work...

Yeah weps that are not balanced correctly get crutched, and everyone dose it idc who saids otherwise. It's all because of how they balance things. Just played the new update last Friday I think and something huge felt off about my Titan(not that big of deal), and my weps. Omg what TF did they do to shotguns. I played for like 2hrs turned my ps3 off and my ps4 on and played Killzone, then dying light., and finally cod, Love those games. I don't gaf what fanboys say destiny could take some good ideals out of those games. Think of everything good about those games and put em in destiny, especially mm, and online optional. #Balance #Improvement
