Petition to remove Trials of Osiris from the game (not #satire)

Let me start by saying that I have absolutely nothing against the game mode itself other than its lack of matchmaking, but unfortunately the players who participate in Trials continually destroy the game for everyone else. I know it's a radical suggestion to remove an entire game type because of player behavior, but I'm not sure anyone is going to want to keep playing the shell of a game that Trials players leave the rest of us. The problem is and always will be nerfs. Since Trials inception, it has easily been the single biggest contributor to nerf posts on these forums. - Thorn was essentially erased from this game because of Trials. - Hand Cannons were AR'd because of Trials. - Pulse Rifles just got boned because of Trials. - Sunbreakers were probably doomed anyway, but the loudest cries for nerfs... Trials. And as bad as all those were, now I'm seeing posts crying that Trials matches aren't fair because of MIDA and Truth. Seriously go find a Chinese hell to burn in if you're going to cry about MIDA and Truth. The point of this game was supposed to be becoming more powerful and finding more powerful and awesome weapons. MIDA has always been a great counter to any "God weapon" in this game, not because it's OP, but because it's so well balanced and versatile from mid to long range. But rather than find counters like MIDA, rather than grind for your own "God weapons" if you feel you can't compete, rather than get fracking good, we've systematically destroyed every weapon and class that was ever fun in this game. Go shoot a goddamn Fusion Rifle. They're complete garbage. Collateral damage from the constant dicking over of weapons, all to "balance" one stupid PvP mode that almost no one plays. Someone post those pathetic numbers they put up a month or so ago about how few players actually compete in ToO and the infinitesimal number that have actually gone to the Lighthouse. So we're going to have all our weapons ruined in not only PvP, but PvE as well so probably less than 5% of the player base don't cry? I just don't get your thought process here Bungie. I can tell you this though, there's not one reasonable or remotely valid reason to nerf Truth, MIDA or Scouts and if that unbelievably stupid thought crosses Jon Wisnewski's mind then it's time to pull the plug on Trials. And to anyone who enjoys Trials, I'm sorry but there would be no one to blame but yourselves. Better you lose your game mode than be allowed to keep dragging the rest of this game down with your incessant crying for nerfs. EDIT: Just to clarify because I'm being accused of having put up nerf posts #realbalanceisnotbalanced

  • I've come to a different way of thinking on this... Bungie is changing the meta to keep both game modes "fresh". It's the only thing that makes nerfing an entire weapon type anything close to sensible. Bungie has dropped hints to this several times in their notes, referring to giving each gun "their time in the sun". They also speak of "variety" and making other guns "viable". It's a forced rotation through their weapon set, and it forces you to play their content with multiple setups (thereby extending play on the thin content). So... don't blame PvP, IB, ToO, or any other PvP style of play. Bungie is doing this for their own reasons.

    • There isn't a part of this that I can agree with. I will reiterate what I always say, Bungie has all the power, not the players. You cannot blame the players or a game mode for the nerfs that happen to weapons in PvP and PvE, logically the blame falls on Bungie for not separating the nerfs. There is no one other than Bungie at fault. And to suggest that a game mode be removed because of this? That's madness. Trials players don't choose which weapons are to be nerf'd and buff'd. They don't choose the values. They have no power, Bungie does. So to suggest that Trials players are to blame is outrageous. Secondly, repeatable PvP players wouldn't complain about a weapon unless they thought there was an absolute problem with it. By stereotyping all Trials players into one circle of people who cry nerf, is wholly disgusting. Most Trials players play the game without a second thought and if there is a problem, it will be addressed. As far as the MIDA post, look at whose posting them. Scrubs. And if MIDA gets nerf'd, then you have to blame Bungie for being stupid enough to believe such claims. Overall, I'm just horribly disappointed that you would suggest that Trials is the reason weapons are getting nerf'd. No, it's Bungie and if for some reason, you want to blame a group of players, it's the scrubs that get out played and blame the bloody gun, run to the forums and complain about it. And let's say that Trials is removed. What do you suggest replace it? Are you just going to leave those hundreds of thousands of players who participate in Trials out to dry? Just going to ignore their feelings on the matter? It's not Trials. It's not PvP players. It's Bungie. And I'm incredibly disappointed by the position that you took here.
Plus removing content from Destiny is like removing water from a desert, you are just making a bad situation worse.
• I look at the post and here are the first 2 things that come to my mind: 1) add #butthurt tag 2) bungie owes you this much:

Oh wait, nothing.

        • I don't think it should be removed, I think though that you should only be aloud 1-2 card(s) per week per character so that way people who have already gotten rewards can't do it again on that character because it's extremely irritating when I see someone who's already beat it this week go up against me

          • I believe instead of eliminating an entire game mode, why doesn't Bungie not nerf anything, but buff things up to the best guns (or armor pieces) level.

            • The problem is that Trials illuminates the meta in a more visible setting. Thorn was always strong, people'd bitch about it in IB. TLW was always a rumble god, Hawkmoon was Hawkmoon. Pulses were the best and thus used everywhere. Sunbreaker was actually less scary in Trials, but they were still nearly impossible to reliably kill in 3s. If anything I would say keep Trials because it shows what's imbalanced, just like the Nightfalls can do the same for PvE (warsat).

            • ToO isn't the problem, it's pvp as a whole. Players and devs have played their parts.
