What is, "I"?

"I" am I, but what does that mean? Lately, I can't help but be awestruck by that simple pronoun, because I feel the incessant need to question it. Not just what "I" am myself, but what the other "I's" are in this world. As I said, it's a simple pronoun, "I" happens to be whatever follows it. "I am this", or "I am that". But how many times can you say this before you start to question what exactly that means? What...are you? How many times can you say, "I am..." before wondering what the identity behind this "I" really is? I suppose it's more of a problem of "who" rather than "what", and furthermore a question of, "why". You can label yourself a million different ways, but that's still no answer. What does an adjective really describe? What you think? What you believe? What you "are"? What does all of that matter, if I don't know "why"? If I don't understand the "why" behind the "who", then how can I say I know who "you" are? I suppose this nonsensical dilemma might be a manifestation of both my inability to comprehend all of the factors, known and unknown, that mold a person into what they become, myself included, combined with my ability to understand how fleeting it all is. Not only do our lives slip through our fingers as the decades go by, but for most, so do...our very personalities. It's unlikely you'll be the exact same person in a few years as you are now, and by the time you've almost come full circle, there's a chance...you might not even be "you" anymore. There's no shortage of ways in which the mind can fail, while the body still lives. You're alive, but you're not "you". And meanwhile, all of these different "I's" in the world fight and kill each other over these temporal convictions, blood being spilled for no reason other than a conflict of interests between personalities that hardly understand their own nature, let alone that of one another. There's not really a point to this post, I was just letting a few thoughts wander out. If you can find anything to discuss out of this, feel free. If you just skipped over it and are reading these last few sentences, I don't blame you. Anyway, hope everyone is having a pleasant evening.

  • Calm down there Socrates, I is just a bridge word to explore our self description and our view point of your own person. None of it really matters because "I" is just how you perceive yourself, what really matters is how your environment perceives you (not the people, but the actual environment and your effect on it)

  • But in all seriousness, yeah, I've been there dude. I is just a way to declare that the idea we're about to present represents what we are, in all aspects of what is communicated, from timing, word choice, emotion, thought and preparation. It's inherently not at all about what we say, or even how we say it, the notion of "I" is as we live. And nothing more than that. Our life is "I" And we choose who "I" becomes.
