"More paths to guaranteed rewards", Double RNG. It's time for Customization

Ok Bungie, time for a sit down. You promised us "more paths to guaranteed rewards." From the beginning it seemed like you were on the right track with quest lines. Tedious though they may be, you gave us a semblance of control over gearing our character towards that "perfect build." For this perfect build, you also included elemental resistance for the armor. But the drawback is this gear is triple RNG - light level, element, abd stats (dis, int, and str). This is where infusion can be a godsend, but also a crutch. Which leads to my next point: For the stuff we can't earn through quests, we have this - Double RNG. Who thought this was a good idea overall? This is not a big issue for blue gear and lower, but for endgame gear its terrible and insulting. The journey from 170 to 295ish was fulfilling in the fact that I felt I was being rewarded on a fairly smooth curve with gear that would lead me towards being raid ready and eventually level cap. I, like many others, hit the wall around 290-295. Fair enough. On to the raid then. But those drops are double RNG as well, if you they drop at all. In VoG and Crota, you only needed one drop to get the item. It was satisfying. At the very least you got shards which were needed to upgrade the gear you did have or will have. Overall, I didn't feel my time was completely wasted. I didn't get crushed when I traded 20 shards for [i]a chance [/i]at something, only to be rewarded with 2 shards. So however this layout was supposed it work, it didn't. I think its better to go back to the old system. But if you want to continue on this path then we need true customization. Yes, its time. There's too much RNG for any person, casual or hardcore, to obtain that perfect build with any decent amount of and effort. With no DLC in sight till spring (if I read the update right), by the time an acceptable amount of people achieve even one perfect set, it will be underleveled with the release of the new DLC. So let us build our own. Let us decide which perks we want (within reason, of course), which stats we want on them, which elements for resistance, and so on. You can make it expensive and people will still gladly grind for the materials, as they will have that "guaranteed path" you talked about. Stop making us roll the dice (glass needles, mouldering shards, 3oC) its getting ridiculous. Let us use the mats we worked so hard for - ascendants, radiants, etheric light - for something useful again. They were invaluable when they were new. Now, useful only for faction Rep to attain yet another RNG drop of gear we can't or don't want to use. Many of us already used our fat stack stacks of raid mats for Rep, glimmer, motes, etc. Allowing us to utilize them for gear customization would bring value back to the old raids, as well. Its time.
