This is not the first game to do this you know nor will it be the last no matter if you do not like it either. Actually 343 seen how it worked in ME3 and implemented it to their game. go play me3-mp and it does the same thing. yes there will be a chance of duplicates. maybe there will be new ones probably not or at least will be for the full bag and not just individual ones to prevent abusing it.

 • Glad to see someone mention ME3 in this discussion. The thing with the packs in ME3 was that you didn't have to buy them. You could earn through game play & performance, the purchase was merely a way to accelerate your acquisition. In Y1 Destiny when players commented on how they wished Bungie would sell Gjallarhorn for real cash I said the only way that you would ever be able to buy exotics would be if random engrams were sold, players wouldn't be allowed to buy exactly what they wanted. This dovetails into something else about the ME3 packs... The purchased packs were for items that had an in-game benefit, it wasn't for cosmetic only items. New classes, new & better versions of weapons, weapon attachments, single-game consumable boosts...EA/Bioware implemented it fairly well and from what I've seen on how it works in Halo 5, 343 has done a good approximation of the EA/Bioware model. Bungie has their head up their fourth point of contact if they think what they're proposing is in any way acceptable to players.

 • Does not matter if is acceptable or not for the players do not control bungie and what bungie ultimately does with the game. So either players will deal with it or deal without it by not buying silver. And either bungie will make changes or they will not for they know some players will not care about this at all and will still spend the money on silver regardless of this. So in the end it is wait and see.. either it will get better or worse and there is no way to know at this point. And complaining about it before it is even done will not directly prevent it or cause a major change in it at this point. For bungie will want to wait and see who does accept it over those who do not before making any changes to it. This whole game is based around rng in basis, so yep even ET now gets a taste of it.. just another method to get more money from those that are willing/stupid enough to do it. And there is a shit ton of them out there that area.

 • It was still the best system I've seen. I was excited every pack, unlike Destiny's engrams (even legendaries and exotics).
