To the children who buy emotes

You're literally paying real life money for your character to do a 2-10 second action. You cannot justify this. You can make excuses and I'll post your excuses for being a child using their parents credit card below. When you pay for emotes you are showing AAA companies that they can take stuff out of their game that better games give for FREE and sell it. I understand the type of audience who buys silver....and that audience is classified as the casual gamer. Not real gamers. I love how I make a spelling mistake because I'm human and since you guys have no real valid arguments to make you choose 1 grammatical error. Only proves my point that you don't know how to spend money wisely. Excuse #1: It's my money. Excuse #2: I make (put exaggerated amount of money made per year here) and I can afford it. Excuse #3: Don't worry about my money! (They know they're wrong and are trying SO HARD to justify something that just isn't justifiable). Almost 50 replies and only 3 poor excuses have been made. Proving my point again.... I think you guys have tired yourself out. I just had to sit through the snot nosed kids coming in trying to justify purchases for EMOTES...I legit think I have cancer now. Thanks Density. To the kids who think that I'm poor...I make well over 250k a year. Money aint nutin. Because I know you guys still can't come up with any good logical reasons as to why you pay for emotes other than you like Bungie screwing you over. Still waiting on that person but I'm starting to lose hope that there will be someone who can explain it logically. SOMEONE FOUND A LOGICAL REASON TO GET AN EMOTE!
Because Microsoft paid for it by giving me codes worth $5-$10
You guys disagreeing with facts have produced more salt than every single salt factory in the galaxiez.

  • Aaa? Microtransactions? Casuals? My 2 years of play in wow disagrees with every single aspect of this. You're obviously like 11, have never played pc games, some of which have more Microtransactions than in game gear. You could start a lemonade stand if your mommy won't pay for them.

  • The value of something is determined by how much anybody is willing to pay. That is how prices are set. Sure we could go into government setting their pricing policies in annual budgets, but These are in part influenced by CPI's and RPI's and predictions of these in future events, not to mention interest rates which effect all of these. Bottom line is that if people are willing to pay the price, they will pay it. And emote selling for there current value will be a success if people are willing to pay for them. Just because other games give that content away for free does not mean that it is as good or better. When it comes to art, and video games are "art" which has no material value, the only value associated with ownership is what the consumer puts on it as value i.e satisfaction from entertainment. If you like this kind of things in other video games that give them away for free, maybe you should be playing those games. As you may get a fairer deal, but then again, do you actually like those games? If bungie can create value in an area of the market where other video games fail, then they are business experts, and being business experts means they can hit their sales targets more comfortably, and we can continue to enjoy a game some gamers enjoy for longer, or enjoy other fun titles they may make in the future. I don't know what sales targets bungie have, or how they are doing financially, ( i guess that's not my problem, I suspect they are doing very well) but there is a fine line between success and financial failure. Ultimately your understanding of fair pricing is about your trust and relationship with the the company you do business with, and your perceived value of the content you want to purchase/ products and services that are on offer. Buying emotes is completely legitimate, as is buying any piece of art. Paintings go for millions. I'm sure these ultra rich people do not think it is a stupid decision. Just because people do not understand someone's motive for buying something does not make it wrong. Buying emotes are useful for a number of reasons. 1.) micro transactions, this is the biggest from my perception. It has recently been announced that the funding for currently planned FREE future destiny content will be through micro transactions. This is probably the biggest positive. Rather than forced to pay for DLC at larger value sums it makes sense that fans of the game can contribute over a period of time, and get exclusive emotes. It means the richer of us can help contribute to a game we like, get exclusivity, and help maybe that kid who can't afford DLC because he gets no pocket money to still enjoy the game, and maybe help us with a raid or two! And it's a nice feeling to feel like we are contributing money for the development and maintenance of the game rather than forcing us to pay. Much more positive. 2.) comunication. There are certain moments in the game that would not have been the same without those of those emotes out there. You can interact better with your fellow guardians, which is great. 3.) Exclusivity. Everyone likes to feel special. 4.) Because you like them. Somebody had to make them, and the whole damn game. If you like them, buy them. if they are making free content in the future It's only right they get a pay check! Don't feel bad for splashing cash. ( it is ultimately your cash). I think that wraps this up.

"I make 250k a year" hahahahaha shut your pizza hut delivering, mountain dew and dorito guzzling, still living at home in your mom's basement, broke, virgin ass up, trying to tell another man how he should spend his money is rude and childish, if someone gets just as much joy from spending $10 on emotes in a video game they love as other people get from going to the movies or going bowling or something who the -blam!- are you to tell another man his fun isn't right because it isn't what you consider fun? You're what's wrong with America, getting offended because somebody enjoys something that isn't hurting anybody, you're scum, now go tell mommy not to forget to get the shit stains out of your power ranger underwear

        • I have a logical reason. To make potatoes like you ask questions. I pay for what I want to pay for, it's my money, I work my ass of for it, I'll spend it how I want to. As for making 250k a year, your knees must me raw as hell. You can complain about the way others spend their money, then brag about making "so much". What other people do with their money is none of your fkn business. So suck another one, potatoe.

          • The same kind of argument can be made for every time you get fast food from places like McDonalds. Or anything really. A lot of big things are owned by big companies, which spend money on advertising and psychologists to find out what is appealing to different parts of the brain. This has been going on for ages.

            • OP, this is one if the stupidest, most immature posts i've seen in a while. Why do you care so much how others spend their money? Is it because your parents won't buy you anything because you're a little shit? So now you insult everybody who can afford it? A good lunch costs more than 4-5 emotes but don't last even a fraction as long, and if they entertain, then it's worth it (i bought 1000 silver, and don't regret it one bit). If this is b8, then good job, but other than that, just grow up.

If I may be so bold in asking, why do you care what other people do with their own money? What's with the angry rant? It's not coming out of your pockets. They're not using your credit card. They're using their own money. Money that belongs to them. So why make such a fuss over it?

            • Since when did people have to justify their purchases? Especially to random people on the internet? If we want something that we can afford, we usually go get it. Hell, some people buy stuff that they can't afford. It's not your problem so why do you care? You also have yet to post a single fact that people are supposedly disagreeing with.
