How can the community be ok or content with bungie time gating year 1 exotics?
Please keep it mature.
People need to realize that this is just another tactic by bungie to extend ttk dlc. This is gear we earned one way or another on year 1. Their plan is to try and keep game "fresh" without giving us actual new exotics. Things like this are the precise reason i refuse to buy ttk dlc. We should have seen this coming. To all you ttk owners i say this sincerely. I hope you have enjoyed and will continue to enjoy ttk but you guys should not be ok with time gating year one exotics, they even time gate year 2 exotics as well as even glimmer. Cheap cheap tactics we should not be ok with guardians.

Edited by tacoface1996: 11/24/2015 4:47:35 AMI don't think timegating is neccessarily bad, since you are forced to try out different play styles you never thought of trying before and then realize those said styles are pretty fun and effective BUT the time in between release of exotics is WAAaaaayyy too long in my opinion.

It's a great balance cause if you release everything at once you can either... a) Burn yourself out early because you did everything their is to do. b) Be overwhelmed by the amount of things you can do and never get anything done. This game has a 10 year commitment. If it doesn't have anything to keep players interested with regular updates and novelties then, as we currently see, people will get bored and leave. If anything Bungie should time gate more things and release them once a week just to keep people constantly interested.

Ultimately I really don't care, I play destiny for the social experiences. It is honestly some of the best multiplayer content I've ever played in terms of getting to know people. The game itself is somewhat poor, but who you play it with really makes or breaks the games. The exotics are just icing on the cake for me. Ultimately, those exotics are just a little bonus.

If there's anything these forums have taught me, it's that critical thinking skills are scarce in today's world. We still haven't even received all of the exotics that were suppose to come with TTK. It's nothing less than a joke.

if you get TTK we can R,A,F =D personally i'd rather have exotics with working perks and new upgrades than an exotic that doesn't do anything

1 ReplyWas the final straw for me. It was bad enough they hadn't even released all TTK gear yet. But the announcement of Y1 exotics being re released was it for me. On to other games.

I've said it before, and probably will again, it's a cycle. It's always been a cycle. Day one weapons were made obsolete when Oryx came out. But Xur sold exotic upgrades and raid weapons were awesome, so people were okay with it. Then HoW brought it all back(after you shredded all your day one gear). But everything could be upgraded, even raid weapons, so it was okay, and everything was still relevant. And then TTK stripped us all back to basics, made us abandon all of our gear for yet another retooling. Many exotics made the (now) initial jump, but had to be re-earned or re-bought. So am I surprised that they are releasing more yr 1 updated exotics? Not at all. My yr1 Iron Banner armor is just waiting for whatever the next Etheric Light turns out to be.

They're not timegating them. They're just releasing them with the patch. A lot of games and mods do this.

Im ok with it because it has forced me to try new guns instead of relying on the same setup. I used to use mida a lot in cruicible but since ttk ive started using pulse rifles now with mida coming to year 2 i will probably switch back

Could be they were time gating them. I honestly think they thought certain exotics were underpowered/overpowered. They didn't have time(or didn't want to) adjust them. After the outcry for our old stuff they decided to fix that and bring them back updated. All that said, if when we get them back there identical your right and it was a shit move by bungie

1 ReplyDoesn't bother me actually as I don't binge play the game and there's still stuff for me to work on. I can understand for those that put in a large amount of hours into playing every week that the wait can be very irritating as they are simply just waiting. As for me though, I can concentrate on completing what I already have without feeling behind in the grind.

5 RepliesWe knew about this since September, and the community bitched about them not coming forward sooner. Now, the community is up in arms about this. What happened in two months? Also, to the Year 2 players, all of these exotics are new. It's actually adding more to the loot table. Yeah, Year oners already have the Year 1 exotics, but we wanted them to bring them forward. Bungie listened, and now they're getting shit for it, that makes zero sense. If you're not going to come along into Year 2, then you'll stay back in Year 1, simple as that.

2 RepliesCouldn't care less. I'd have been perfectly happy if they hadn't released them to year 2 at all. So releasing them, just a bit later, has absolutely no impact on the enjoyment I get from the game. Used all of those guns and gear year 1. Maybe I'll use them again in year 2, maybe not. I will however, still be shooting aliens in the face. A lot. Ps, I'm also sure that by not having them in the loot table I got the new exotics faster, as the rolls were all on the new exotic table, so that's at least one positive of the time gating.

Because Bungie does not have to care if the players of this forum like it or not. For there is always new players that will like it and those that dont care at all and never will since it is just game and not some life/death issue like you are trying to make it seem.

Time-gating exotics is another way of controlling which way the meta goes. I think we're well past the point where anyone seriously believes that sandbox changes are progressing toward an optimal arrangement - they're periodically shifting the balance to change the feel of the Crucible, (specifically,) and keep the game's gunplay (in general) fresh. And tbh, I'm okay with that. Each sandbox 'era' is different, and forces me to look closer at my characters and subclasses, and to adjust to the changing conditions. Just like in any other MMO, really.

Non valid due to lack of owning the same game I'm playing. If you don't own and have played TTK why on Earth would you actually feel pressed to put forth your useless opinion? When depressed and feeling slighted by a video game and/or its creators, seek help! I mean seek serious help. You would have to be borderline psychotic to continue your attempts at justifying your decision on not moving forward with the game. It's kinda like being that person that just refuses to be broken up with. Get over it! Move on! Let others fly free how they wish. Spread your negative energy to your therapist and work that shiz out!

We've known about that since before launch. But we didn't...at least I didn't mind it because we'd have plenty of new exotics to play around with till then. this was before I knew half the exotic armor wouldn't come at release. and before I knew that the fire/void lord would not make it. I wouldn't really say i'm "ok" with it. I'm just happy to get it back. and Hoping that certain exotics like SGA and dragon's breath get re works so they become useful.
