I did some material exchange earlier this week. Do you have your ascendant materials on your character when you went to the speaker? His inventory options for material exchange is 'dynamic' and only shows the options that match what is in your characters back-pack. He won't have the tiles there for conversion or selling if materials are in your vault or other characters.

Thank you. I was stupidly thinking that I could convert my Ascendant Energies to glimmer, but the Speaker only accepts Ascendant Shards for glimmer.
