As food for thought, does not the Sunsinger's reproduce the ability to return from the dead, much like the Hive and Oryx do? Instead of their Soul's being stored within a Crystal, the Soul is in fact stored within the Ghost itself, however, unlike Oryx, a Warlock does not require a ritual to manifest themselves back into the reality, instead they must have had a store of power before hand, in order to summon this trait. If this is true, perhaps the vessel is the restriction behind the power displayed, Oryx can only take from the deep what his body does not restrict and allows through, as, if your theory is true, Oryx, and his minions, could use our powers as well, could they not? Perhaps the darkness power allows for a different manipulation of the elements, while our light also has its own restrictions. As a Sunsinger, perhaps attempt to sing a song of life onto your allies instead, use it to prevent death, as the abilities we display may in fact be the exact opposite of the darkness.

The Sword Logic makes the Hive gain more power over reality with the more killing they commit, which eventually makes them strong enough to forge their own pocket-realities to retreat their souls to upon death (throne worlds/ascendant realms). To resurrect, they simply move themselves from the throne world to the physical world. Sword Logic also allows the user to cut through space to easily travel between two points, if they are sufficiently powerful. The principle of cutting through space is the same technique for both ship transportation and for moving from throne world to physical world (rebirth). This is how it's supposed to work according to the Books of Sorrow, so I don't really know much about the point of the soul-storing crystals, or why Crota couldn't cut a wound through space to return to the physical world without these crystals (maybe he didn't have the Sword Logic to do it?). Guessing that because Crota could not cut space, he had his wizards pull his soul into the physical world through the crystal as an intermediate step in his resurrection. I'm not really sure what you meant by my theory; I think you meant my interpretation of the oversoul description, but oversouls are a completely separate thing from how Hive gods get reborn. In the Awoken and The Veil thread (linked in the OP), I covered what exists beyond the veil: the past, present, future, and their infinite timelines, the Black Garden, the Deep/Darkness, and the true essences (or souls) of things. Now on the subject of the Sunsinger, an interesting bit of lore revealed that the Radiance allows the user to fly beyond the veil (thus allowing the soul to fly back to the physical world). I believe that Hive throne worlds/ascendant realms are likely similarly beyond the veil separating realities. If Hive ascendant realms are beyond the veil, and radiance-resurrection and regular ghost resurrection work by pulling souls from beyond the veil or storing souls inside the ghosts like a throne worlds (as apposed to just reconstruction), then there are similarities in the methodologies. I'm not sure what you mean by the "restriction behind the power displayed."
