Edit: Combat rating is holding pretty steady as the clear winner of this poll.
I've tried to argue with people that skill is determined by more than KD alone, and that if you're going to judge by KD then they should go by recent kd, instead of overall.
I've argued that win % and combat rating are better indicators, but that didn't seem to go over well either.
Some people say that trials and rumble kd are much better indicators, and they might be for that particular situation, but again I don't think it shows overall skill.
What do guys think? My personal opinion is that these numbers show nothing when taken individually and it's better to look at the big picture.
Edit: alot of people are asking what combat rating is, here is my understanding; Combat rating starts at a base value of 100 for everyone, if you play 'within expectations' it doesn't change much, but if you do better or worse than those expectations it will change alot.
I think it takes the teams average combat rating, and which ever is higher is expected to win. I don't know if it accounts for individual kill/death in the same manner or not.
If a team has a much higher rating than yours and you lose, you don't lose much, but if you win you gain alot. The opposite is also true, if your team is much higher and you win you don't gain much, but if you lose than your rating is dropped alot.
I don't know how much more goes into it, someone else can correct me if I'm wrong.

Grimiore score obviously
-
As a PvE person, I only determine skill through playing the game with others.
-
Half of those options is k/d I think there should be more options

Power level scouters never lie
-
How do you see your combat rating?
-
Precision kill ratio.
-
K/Dr just shows gun skill, that's all, not overall player skill.
-
What's the CBR for a decent player? Because the average seems to be in the low 90s.

Other Patience A Will to learn Positive Attitude (if elitist why don't you have a permanent raid party?) Relaxed mentality regardless the outcome (Major Rager, Liono the Whine-o and Captain Curse a lot isn't any fun)

Edited by Tomnipotent: 11/13/2015 9:25:38 PMWhat the hell is combat rating and what does it mean?? My kd isnt that good.. but on destiny tracker im top 1% with combat rating... uhm?? Someone explain. edit: Yeah i just checked again, it says my combat rating is 181.88 ...is that high?

My combat rating in my most played mode (control) is around 110, my combat rating for Zone Control is over 500. I know statistically I'm an above average FPS player (the actual average is fairly low for list games. Like .6-.7 low.) however, I don't consider myself to be what I would deem a really good player. I also play 99.999% of all PvP as a solo player. This is a factor in stats as well. More important than any statistic is being able to take all of the statistical data, properly analyze it, and extrapolate a useful evaluation of a player's skill set from it. Everything else is just stroking to the Internet.

Edited by mikgonza: 11/13/2015 9:02:21 PMSkill? Yes, I'm curious how can I measure my ability to sit on the couch in my pj's and push buttons better than everyone else? This is something that concerns me. Perhaps when we push the buttons effectively the console could spit out a food pellet, let's call it an engram.

Edited by Sixclicks: 11/13/2015 9:10:50 PMA combination of combat rating and k/d is best imo. Win% isn't a good one because that stat relies heavily on having a good team in anything but Rumble. I have an overall Combat Rating of 133.57 (top 6%) and an overall k/d of 1.87 (top 2%). My top character (my Titan) has a 2.08 k/d (top 1%). It's the only character I really PvP with anymore.

Knowledge... I like to have fun in the game, so I screw around with friends and that drops my kd, but I don't care. I usually do better than most of those "only 1.5 kd" trials guys

Is combat rating important? Cause I am in the top 1%. Or was 2 days ago.
-
I think kd is one of the least important stats For example My kd on my titan is about. 1.3 in control because I did bad when the game first came out, if I were to re start my character I could be hitting a 2.0 kd easily Recent games or recent kd is the best way to tell skill

Wat r combat ratting

Craaaap. I always thought I was pretty good, but all I've got is 118 combat rating? I dishonor family *commits seppaku*

Whether you have other priorities or not 😐

I think Girth is the most important factor. Closely followed by how spastic the thrusts are..

Skill. That's the best way.
