I think a big reason they didn't bring them forward is elemental primaries. They wanted to make all primaries kinetic that way people could use any weapon in any game scenario. Bringing the old ones forward would make all the new gear useless.

Except, now, Endgame gear is nowhere near as special as it was, before. Before, you got Elemental Primaries, and (in the original Light system) the armor had Exotic-level Light, which allowed players to get to max level. That way, both Endgame armor and weapons were that much more desirable (and justifiably so, given how much harder they were to obtain than everything else in the game). And, even when they introduced Etheric Light (which took away the Damage/Light superiority that Endgame gear had), the one thing that still made them unique, over everything else, was the Elemental Primaries. In that way, it preserved the hierarchy of Endgame rewards, you know? It's what made people want to Raid so much in the first place, and what kept them Raiding after the fact. But NOW, without Elemental Primaries, there is very little that makes the new Endgame rewards worth the effort. Why would Bungie make the Endgame less desirable?!

Unless they just add an item in which gives every primary an element.
Unless they just add an item in which gives every primary an element.
No, that would be too obvious, for Bungie... -_-
