Well.
188,000 people got to lighthouse last trails.
This trails, only 122,000 made it.
Bungie takes care to not release any info that alludes to a "sinking ship" phenomenon, but looking at the data they DO provide shows that, yes, perhaps people are leaving. (They blamed the over 50,000 fewer lighthouse goers on the Matchmaking system, doubtful)

Really puts the whole "27million accounts" number they brag about in perspective. Sure you have over 27million accounts...if the majority of them aren't playing your game it doesn't matter.

According to gameinformer and reddit, destiny's silver and the TTK expansion dominated PSN sales, only non-destiny item in the top 5 was a minecraft expansion thingie. It's also the most-watched console game on twitch. There's just no denying that Destiny is big. Sure, there are people leaving, but there are also new players and the actual playerbase (while it surely isn't anywhere near 27 million) seems to be big enough to keep the game alive and kicking.

Edited by Dezzie19: 11/6/2015 7:45:27 AMA good way to guess the numbers is look at your playstation trophy section. Only 33% of people who made an account ever even got to attaining 1 piece of exotic loot. So slash that 25 million by 2/3rds right there. How many of that 33% got a few exotics then quit? I'd say at least half, so you end up with 16% from 25 million. Then how many are multiple characters on an account? Are they counting each character? If so you can take another 2/3rds from the 16%. After a lot of guess work i'd say about 5% of 25 million is not far off the mark.

Yeah but is that the last of the year one trials? If it is then that's far worse.

There could be accounts abandoned after the first week of launch, but are counted as part of the 25 mil. Hate to say it, but if you read about Halo's numbers there's no vagueness. It's all cut and clear.
-
Halo just came out... of course the numbers are cut and dry, just like destinys' were when it first came out
-
I'm not sure which numbers you mean. All I've ever heard about was registered users and average play time.
-
there are a ton of abandoned accounts that are getting included in that 27 million number for sure

What is a trail

that means nothing. I went to the lighthouse last year but didn't even play trials this time
