Why not just let the weapon part drops from dismantling go back to what it was before? Why complicate things by having us buy it with glimmer?

  • he has a point, before everyone got green drops of weapon parts and no one complained. This system has become more complicated than that, because bungie and all of their infinite wisdom and great decision making decided, lets nerf weapon parts and cause a "great depression" of weapon parts, while at the same time spit in the face of our already pissed off community. part of that was a rant. very salty with bungies decision making and logic.

  • Totally agree with all you said man but with reference to the post I replied to, the one thing I'm not short of is glimmer so buying weapon parts with glimmer seems the most uncomplicated way to deal with it. :)

  • Of course not. Creating a new system to obtain a material we had no problem getting in the old system complicates things.

  • More grind..... I think it's cool but like you said, why not just undo the screw up? The nerfs are coming too. Kind of picked up on that. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat

  • Meh, dismantling requires you to have weapons and weapon engrams drop. Put the vanguard ghost shell on, go to the dark below hive door, ambush all the exiting hive, go to orbit and repeat. Hmmmm.... which one is faster and easier. I don't know... so hard to tell. Give me a break, dude. You get 2-4 parts from a weapon dismantle. This new way you could buy hundreds of parts and replace the glimmer in 30 min or less. How many engrams will you get in 30 min. At 2-4 parts per engram, will you get a few hundred parts in 30 min? Nooooooo.... I don't think so.

  • its also very idoiotic, that they add reforging, which takes 10 weapon parts, and not add a weapon parts vendor, then in the next dlc nerf weapon parts, something most people(including me) completely wasted in house of wolves, and even more that the system is pretty much gone. Seriously, the only thing to worry about was shotpackage but thats gone, if they say they want us to have new weapons to hang onto, why not give us that system so we dont have to use some of the shit rolls we get now. Like i am a pve player, the last man standing perks are kinda useless for me. Like if i am the last man standing in a raid then i might as well wipe, unless im close to finishing. In strikes, not much to lose since you dont get kicked back to orbit in nightfalls anymore.

  • What do you mean? Did anyone have issues with the number of weapon parts they had pre patch in the old system? Strange.... I don't remember one post complaining about weapon parts in year one.

No? You sure about that? No one? Not one person? Remember the reforging rage during HoW? No one said how they were running out of weapon parts? June 10, during HoW, asking to buy weapon parts... YEAR ONE (1): https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129183698/0/0 This is a reply to the above post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129406513/0/0/1 And another reply to the above post: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129204687/0/0/1 You said no one complained. No one wanted parts. I found 3 in just one post only looking back to June. What would I find looking back to September 2014? Hmmm....

  • I'm glad they finally addressed this epidemic that spawned last year as it was clearly a constantly trending issue on the forums in June.

  • This was one singular example. Wanna take the time, you'll see this topic coming up much much further back than June. I know, I was one of many who posed it before. Months before HoWs release. So, keep the sarcasm flowing. It keeps me warm at night. This is not a new subject.

  • So, you know what they cost then? I missed it. Like 10 parts for a few hundred glimmer, right? Just an example, i'm speculating as i didn't read well enough to see where they posted specifics. Thanks in advance

No, I don't know. I'm guessing. But there is NO WAY dismantling will be faster than buying and glimmer farming. Players could spend 25k during IB in yr 1, replace the 25k, and still manage to play IB to raise 3 characters to rep 5. If you can raise 3 characters to rep 5, spend 25k AND replace that 25k all in 1 week, there is no way a person will convince me it's better to farm engrams and drops and dismantle vs buy parts and glimmer farm. Especially with the vanguard shell that gives glimmer for hive kills AND use wax idol then farm the hive door.... please... glimmer is easy to replace. I replace 5k in just 6-7 hours of playing, over 2 days, WITHOUT farming. Just doing bounties on 3 characters, the daily story, and daily crucible.

  • Oh i agree that purchasing will be faster. No question. I think perhaps they should undo the weapon part nerf AND allow us to purchase them. I'm not really complaining as i have plenty and it's far easier to glimmer farm, even post TTK. I just want to see less examples of mistake after mistake and more getting things right and leaving them alone or improving things. Love the game and want to see it get better, but i'm definitely going to critique them when i think it necessary. Thanks for the reply though

  • I agree. I've never seen a game where the core components, like the economy, has changed so often. Most games get it right and do well enough it endures for the lifetime of the game. This is the ONLY ONE I've played who has had to completely overhaul the core system (upgrading, leveling for Christ's sake, the economy) so many times. It's like the game wasn't well pre planned or thought out. I mean, leveling? Battlefield, CoD, Elder Scrolls and all it's series titles , Witcher, Red Dead, any Bethesda game... and countless other... didn't need to revamp and overhaul how you level up. It's idiculous and I completely agree with you.
