We get revived in mission one, basically. So I'm under the assumption that we simply don't have souls.

  • Possible but Emotions come from our brains and only someone with mental health problems does not have any emotions. Was it psychopaths or sociopaths? Because if that is the case then my question is answered. Guardians are NOT all right in the head.

If you want a serious debate on the subject, are exo's excluded from the topic when you say 'Guardians'? Lack of a brain would explain their emotional disconnection

  • That may be true to some extent with the Exo but even they get their memories wiped frequently. Cayde-6 has a six in his name because his memory has been wiped six times. So you can guess where Banshee-44 got his name from. And Banshee-44 can still remember hazily what happened to him and his comrades which is a classic sign of PTSD. Exo are completely Sentient and alive and they need their memories wiped because of things they have experienced. They might be even more "human" than actual Human Guardians and Awoken Guardians because they apparently CAN have emotions and feelings. If they didn't there would be no need for memory wiping. Does that sound possible?

  • Great response, and I didn't know that about the Exo's. With that in consideration, though, I really would have to think that "the will of The Traveller" overrides our base emotions. We complete these missions without a second thought, never bat an eye at all of the dead ghosts or countless number of allies that have passed on, and it all starts with a revival from our Ghost that brings us to a society that is shadowed by The Traveller itself. Our revival, and the influence brought upon by a combination of the giant orb in the sky and influential characters such as The Speaker, seem to sway us towards a specific direction. For a comparison, Eris Morn seems to suffer from more PTSD than a seasoned combat veteran, and she didn't seem to have same influences surrounding her that we have.
