Hey Destiny community, my name is Steve and I work as a sport psychology consultant for the US military. I'm also an avid Destiny player and I recently spoke with the guys on the Crucible Radio podcast about mental tips to improve your performance in the crucible.
Check out the link to listen to some tips and suggestions I have for improving your mental game when playing in a highly competitive game type like Trials of Osiris (my appearance is about 30 minutes in). Tips for staying focused, calm, and getting into flow are discussed.
Happy to hear any questions or comments. You can hit me up in this thread or on Twitter @SportPsychNYLI.
Enjoy your trials experience this weekend!
EDIT:
I've had some great feedback and interest on the topic of the mental game in the crucible so I wanted to follow up and share the link to last week's crucible radio podcast. In the video about 23 minutes in the guys discuss how they are applying the tips we talked about to their Trials runs.
Specifically they talk about how having prepared and productive self talk statements like "One Shot One Kill" can be a useful way to stay focused on the process. Also, how practicing the deliberate breathing strategy has proven to be a successful way to cool off mentally and get back into the right mindset.
Check it out here and keep the conversation going below:
