Earned or Xurned?

I'm starting to see a massive quantity of these posts on the forum lately as a large sum of people attempt to justify their position on the idea of Earning an item or Xurning it. I'm also feeling annoyed enough to dump a bucket of blood into this piranha infested pool and jump in after it, metaphorically speaking. Why? It's because it honestly doesn't matter. I have been playing since the first look alpha/beta testing. I have leveled each class, participated in every raid (still working on King's Fall NM), and endured the struggles of RNGesus longer than the majority of the community. For all the tedium and suffering I endured, I can definitively say it doesn't matter if you Earn it or Xurn it because no one earns any item in this game. I'm completely serious about that. People can argue that they got their favorite weapon after an endless struggle of raiding or nightfalls, when RNGesus finally bequeathed unto them the mighty Black Hammer, Fatebringer, and Gjallarhorn. They will keep tabs on their number of times where RNGesus has denied them the luxury of one of these items in Y1, choosing another in the group to receive it almost as if to personally spite them. These are their argument. In fact, their only argument and it isn't a good one. Y2 is no different. The items have changed, but the hunt is the same. To justify having "Earned" an item because you got it as a drop is a pointless argument in Y2 thanks to a combination of retooled 'upgrade" chance, higher frequency on actual drops, and the Three of Coins being an occasional user-induced drop. You can't say you "Earned" anything anymore. If it isn't an item unique to the Raid (which, in hindsight, isn't that much harder than VoG was when it launched), you got exactly what everyone else has a chance to get. Even gated/special condition exotics, like Sleeper Simulant No Time to Explain, cannot be counted as "Earned". You play the game, invest your time, endure the struggles, and overcome the challenges. No one has the right to brag about "Earning" their gear. The only thing you earn is your skill. When you try to raise yourself above others by proclaiming that you earned it, the only thing it does is make you sound like an elitist ass. Earning and Xurning are one in the same, the only difference is that people who Xurn an item are more humble about it.
