Hey fellow guardians. I'm loving the new weapon diversity in the crucible. I think it reflects a "perfect balance" (sorry... bad pun) achieved by Bungie. But let's talk fusion rifles. With the exception of but a few, these things have never gotten much love outside the crucible. The DPS against raid bosses is underwhelming, and for the charge rate, you may as well try to kill Ir Anuk with a class-A boomstick. What I suggest as a solution is to (1) add a critical hit multiplier, say 1.5x (2) and/or buff damage by 150%... Honestly I love the charge up elemental shreddage that you get out of these, but when it comes time to raid or do anything serious, the fusions (except Sleeper Simulant) get vaulted and replaced by snipers. Thanks for reading this and I'd like to see some awesome changes to these guns.
Edit: Thanks for all the attention this is getting guys! Keep it up!

Vanilla fusion rifles were the best.

Edited by xXxDSMer: 10/30/2015 1:25:06 PMI miss the fusion rifle I used to have, back in the glory days of VoG... when fusion rifles were actually a viable option for pve. That old fusion rifle would take out a hobgoblin sniper from the middle of the templar's platform. Then bungie had to go totally -blam!-ing up the firing behavior just like they did with autorifles. Speaking of autorifles... since they figured out how to add a falloff damage mechanic to the game, I think autorifles firing behaviour should be un -blam!-ed

Edited by Pack93z: 10/30/2015 1:13:46 PMMy opinion, until they can completely separate the "balance" between PVE and PVP... there will be a state of unbalance overall. Sniper, Machine Gun and Pulse/Scout... those are really the only viable choices for the raids. The rest have been nerfed into the ground for the sake of PVP that they are mostly infusion fodder at this point. Swords are helpful in sections... and viable in strikes along with Shotty's. Sure you can run others and clear... but they simply are not effective. Rocket launchers and pistols are fun.. but not really a legit viable choice at the moment.

I've been running with my Susanoo on smaller maps and in close quarters. I'd say I'm 60-40 on beating people, including shotguns. Just throwing it out there. I'm having fun with my fusion rifle.

Edited by LadyKethry: 10/29/2015 10:12:40 PMThis, please. I love fusion rifles, they're my go-to special for PvE unless a sniper is required. They've been nerfed all to hell. The charge rates are freaking ridiculous; the best I've found so far (and I don't have any of the Y2 exotics) have been the Long Far Gone. And they took away the Accelerated Coils perk, so you can't even get that slight bump to charge rate that you used to. I personally don't care for the low charge-high impact FRs, as in I could go back to orbit in the time it takes to charge one shot. If I'm right in the fray, I need my weapon to fire quickly. Otherwise, I might as well stay back and use a sniper. That's just my preference. And god-blam!-ingdamn me, I can't tell you how many -blam!-in' times I've been walking towards an enemy while trying to charge, only to tap just a little too hard on the thumb stick and interrupt my charge and start running. I only seem to do that with fusion rifles. Curse my left thumb!

Ahhh I remember the Pocket Infinity days(stand in a room and you were a wall of death) Fusions were pretty strong back then. Then they were nerfed. I adapted. Then they were nerfed again. They're actually pretty good now, but they require a little more effort so you do not see them as much. My Far Gone on my Titan is pretty sweet in my opinion
-
Yeah I wish fusion rifles were a viable alternative to shotguns but they aren't. It is either the charge rate is low, impact high, and stability low. Or it could be charger rate high, impact low, stability high. Why don't they make one that has it all see if anyone uses the thing. The raid fusion is the most disappointing, the stability is friggin horrendous.

Same fusion rifles need a buff bump
-
I love me fusion
-
Bump!! Fusions suck salty balls
-
Yeah, I was weirded out when I read the patch notes. Fusion rifles were already weakened and rarely used in my experience. Then both changes they made weakened them further! So weird.
-
I miss using my Mythoclast :'(
-
I hate fusion rifles so much I can't properly contain how shitty and annoying they are to use as you back away from shotgunners praying that your charge rate will be fast enough to shoot them but no not even once blam right in the dick but hey you finally got a shot off only to miss one trajectory as mr shotgun dickhead casually strolls up to you with his conspiracy-d as you flail your nubbed T. rex arms desperately like some sort of overweight blueberry kid trying to reach over his own fat for his eighth slice of cake. -blam!- fusion rifles forever no thanks. ...But seriously, they're pretty good, though they can be annoying to use in my opinion.
-
Fusion rifles could use a little bit of a tweak, maybe a little more damage and a fair amount more aim assist. They kind of went overboard on the whole "lead your shots" thing.
-
Blame the whiny crucibabies. Shotguns will be there eventually
-
Legendary fusion rifles could use some love.
-
The nerf herders RUINED fusion rifles! They're coming for shotguns now. They won't be satisfied until there is nothing left but pulse rifles and hand cannons. If I could line up every nerf herders and punch them in the face I would. Stupid nerf herders!
-
I would not mind a buff to fusion rifles in pve. kinda lame when you see everyone with the same types of weapons inside a raid. if black spindle is so good on boss fights, why can't telesto?
-
Indeed, fusion rifles have been nerfed too hard. Telesto is the only fusion I use. It's great for this week's Nightfall.
-
Fusions take skill. The reason u see non is all scrubs use shotguns. Nuff said
-
I've used fusion rifles in pvp to find that even if i hit someone directly while they were afk, some of the projectiles would literally go right through or around them somehow. Another thing, if you're killed before the projectile animation completes, (they hit someone or a wall etc.) then they will disappear. Not cool.
-
Every fusion rifle including the sleeper stimulant is complete trash Bungie needs to buff that archetype
-
They are useless in PvE, I agree. They absolutely need to have the ability to deal precision hits. PvP As for PvP, I have a few possible sllutions. One fix is that they get more range rather than damage. Any fusion should be able to down an enemy in one burst at, say stormcaller range at least. I know for a fact that fast charge/low impact fusions are only good for dismantling and getting marks, since they technically nerfed fusions with 2.0 and those types were garbage before 2.0. Another solution could be to have the sights options be changed to affect burst speed and impact. You know focused fire? Imagine that on a fusion rifle. One downside of this fix, though, could be that they might have to redesign the whole damage output system for fusions. And lastly, the most likely thing to happen, a shotgun nerf. The community has shown that removing shot package made no difference to the killing power of high impact, high range shotguns. I could definitely see Bungie reducing pellet count for shotguns at some point (hopefully only for crucible).

Edited by want 2 b pro: 10/29/2015 3:46:25 PMI'm almost always using my raid fusion when not using my black spindle. I use it to open the portal, then at the plate phase, and again at oryx. There is definitely a niche for these bad boys you just have to get a roll that fits your playstyle. Mine has hip fire and braced frame, it's basically a taken melting laser beam of death. It's fatastic! However I have never felt a fusion was worth anything without certain things ie; bonus damage to X enemies and hip fire. It would be nice to have a few other rolls that I can be successful with as well.
-
Bump. I don't know why they hinder to the weak. I love my fusions and use them above all, when I pull out a shotgun, I shouldn't demolish the other team with multiple relentless medals. It's pathetic how easy it is to kill with shotgun, yet fusions continue to be nerfed to the ground...for absolutely no reason.
-
i think critz might be too much or atleast it has to be a small percent because of the high damage it gives ( for some cases at least). Another thing bungie can do is boost the charge rate and the velocity of the shots( its way too slow)
