You forgot you need to be level 20 at least to use any of those weapons from year one at least, and you need to pretty much be at that high of light level with a lvl 40 to get weapons that you'd even use to infuse that gear. At that point you've already played all the new content and just want to use some of your old favorites again.

Exotics yes.. But my point is legendaries can also be infused

And? They had the same lvl 20/40 requirements as well. You can't just hand down legendaries to a lvl 1 character. And those would be the only infusable items.
