I think the issue is that too many of you, upgrade and keep too many weapons. Other than the class specific guns, you only really need 1 set of weapons to move between your guardians. Sometimes I will test out a new weapon, to see if I like the base functionality of it, the base handling, and the feel of it, but most of the time if it isn't in the 294 and up range, it's instant weapon parts. Alot of the drops have perks I have no interest in so unless its high 290's, for infusion, they are just weapon parts. I have 2 guardians in the 295 to 299 range and my main at 302. But since I move my main guns between them all, I dismantle tons of guns after running strikes, court of Oryx, and dailies. And then the ton of blue weapons that you get in patrol and crucible. For every gun I choose to keep and upgrade, I bet I dismantle 10 to 20 a day. So even at only 2 a piece that's 40 parts a day. And personally I have never been under 100 parts per guardian. I should add I suppose, that I didn't go reforging crazy in HoW, so as a day 1 player I have plenty.

  • How many guns would you consider too many to maintain? I currently maintain: (*=focus/highest level for slot) Primaries 1 - scout* 1- auto 1 - Pulse 2 - exotics Secondaries 1 - Stillpiercer* 3 - Sniper(one for each damage type) 1 -shotty 3 - exotics Heavy 1- raid* 1-sword 1-exotic So 16 total weapons that I am infusing into.

  • And you have a problem maintaining weapon parts? Got a few questions. First off, how many guardians do you regularly play? If you have raid heavy, then I assume you are running raid with at least one guardian on a semi regular basis? Meaning you are currently 303 to 308ish? Now once hard mode drops do you intend to infuse the normal gear or just replace with already more powerful hard tier gear? Once raid light level reached, drops that will be used for infusion will be limited to raid/ToO gear and then said weapon parts will be in less demand. At least until a new tier is released. Doing dailies, an occasional weekly, some strikes, and crucible or patrol once in while should provide you with enough Crap 260 guns to farm for the fewer amount of infusions you will eventually need to utilize. Not to mention the 3 of coins and the duplicate gear/guns exotics that can be used to infuse. I guess true casuals that perhaps spent a bunch of parts for rep, which other than a few ships and shaders, is useless, could struggle.

  • I don't know why I never saw this reply until now, sorry for that. To answer your questions: - 1 Character, my hunter. I have barely touched my Titan and Warlock since TTK dropped. - No, my Raid heavy came from a partial run like the second week the raid was available. That is the only KF run I have been able to get in on. - My hunter is 296 now, was probably 293-294 when this discussion originally started. - Regarding any raid questions, see the above answer about raiding. I plan to keep 1 of each raid weapon, unleveled or infused, and use any duplicates for infusion of the gear I like better. - I do my dailies, weeklies, and bounties pretty regularly. I strike a medium amount. I patrol a ton, and have run CoO a moderate amount. I think I rank the cryptarch 1 to 2 times a week with engrams. - I use a 3oC every strike I do, but instead of duplicates I get new weapons more often. Think since TTK I have had 2 or 3 duplicate exotics drop total. - I have never used material to rank up any faction with the exception of 2 ranks worth for FWC with motes of light for the NTTE quest. Update to my situation: - I now maintain 23 weapons, 8 of which are exotic, 6 of which aren't even fully perk upgraded, all in the light range of 280-305. - I rapidly infuse 26 pieces of armor, including class items and artifacts. - I currently sit on a bank of 22 weapon parts, 5 weapons for infusion food, and 680 armor parts. - I have been infusing for no less than 6 light level difference for quite a while now on weapons, but armor I will infuse at the drop of a hat.

  • You don't get bored playing with the same damn guns on every character, for every activity? Wow. Must have low grimoire too, if you don't use a variety of weapons. Not being a dick, just pointing out facts. With so many cool guns offered, I have trouble not hoarding. For example, take special weapons. I have a shotty of every element, FR of every element, a few snipers, and this is spread out on each character. Each character tends to have a good scout, pulse, HC, and a couple AR's as well. I use different guns on patrol, just for fun. I use my best guns on the raid, obviously. But I don't want to use the same damn raid set of guns for every strike I run, or every time I'm patrolling, working on bounties and stuff. I can't even imagine how boring this game would be if I ran with the same loadout all the time. Maybe that's fun for you, but no thanks, not for me. I enjoy using a good percentage of the many fun tools of destruction that this game offers. Hence, I need weapon parts too. Granted, I blew most of mine on HOW reforging. I don't infuse every piece of crap weapon I have, that would be stupid. But I have so many awesome weapons with great perks, even if I don't need them all, I still enjoy using them, so I tend to level them up so I can always have variety from which to choose. I am like many other players in this game. So your first sentence is not a valid excuse for Bungie. Rather, a poor attempt at trying to defend a bitch move on their part.

  • Well I'm sitting at 4570 for my grim score. And you're right there's plenty of different guns out there. I just prefer the few that work best with my play style. But seems soon parts will be purchasable so, will no longer be an issue.

  • Pretty much how I do it. It's nearly impossible to get 2 guns let alone 3 with the same perks I like. Exotics don't count, but I still don't keep multiples. If I like it I'll upgrade and use it. If not, see ya. Have 1100 or so parts. I'm pretty well stocked up on everything I need.

  • Nah we shouldn't have to waste time moving guns This game is about loot, storage space and doc already stops people from being hoarders. What's the point of having so many guns if you don't want people using them. Makes no sense

  • Takes 2 secs to move weapons. How much longer and more expensive to max out everything? Bungie had made it abundantly clear that today's weapons are tomorrow's trash, so why bother leveling up all the guns when 10 or so do the trick? I'll keep my spare time AND weapons parts, thank you very much

  • Ok you play how you want to play, no one cares. The point is the game is based on getting weapons, everything revolves around loot so what is the point of making most of the loot unplayable because of a terrible gameplay mechanic? Right...there is none There was no reason to nerf weapons parts and it should have ever been tied to faction rank when there's several other useless materials still in rotation from older raids
