Idea for gearing up

I am sorry if this has been discussed in the past, but I have been browsing this forum for some time now and haven't seen much talk about this. This isn't a complaint post more of an idea. I currently like destiny as is just not some aspects of the gearing process. so prepare for a massive idea wall of text: New gear progression idea: No this is not a post to complain about RNG I actually don’t mind it when it comes to pve content it gives me a reason to raid every week. It has been my experience in games like Destiny (for all purposes destiny IS an MMO) that having universal gearing for pve and pvp game types does not make sense especially how Bungie has made their gear progression system with TTK. Here is why: As a guardian that has completed the raid at least 1 time per week since release. I have gotten 1 drop at 310 from the raid and 1 exotic at 310 since release. That is counting at least 20 Three of Coin engram drops since hitting 300 light. This doesn’t really play a factor in pve as for now I can do everything available easily at 300 light plus. That is all good right? Lets look at pvp: For Iron banner they adjusted the curve of damage bonus starting at 240 light. Someone at max light as of now damage bonus or armor bonus however you wish to look at it stops at 300 light, and it can be expected to increase with each increasing max of light ie 320 drops from hard mode, and 330 from heroic mode raid. Will they increase the damage bonus from 300 to 315? 320? No one knows right now there is a lot of guess work at the present time. Yes bungie has for now adjusted the curve of damage according to each game type (IB, TOO). Will the continue to readjust higher? Why is it that even 1 year post release there is now no current way to reach max light level through pvp alone. It seems that ToO gear will now be dropping 280. This is not even the RECOMMENDED LIGHT for this playlist. Again I ask why make this that way? Should the gear not drop at the minimum recommended light? Here is my proposal: Separate pvp and pve progression entirely. If you enjoy doing both this will require you to hold 2 sets of armor for each class, but I believe over all it should help people who only want to do 1 or the other. PVE armor: Raid sets should have perks/set bonuses that are geared towards raid ONLY. IE more damage on boss with 2+ armor pieces equip or add firefly perk to gun with 2+ pieces at 4 pieces get perks that affect your super/grenades/melee etc. These perks only work in this expansion's raid. Each difficulty has different gear that helps prepare you for the next difficulty in raiding. PVE Weapons: focus solely on being exceptional for the raid not the pvp aspect of the game. pvp armor: You earn an initial set with your legendary marks/crucible drops. They drop anywhere from 280 to sub 300, or current sub max light to prep for the competitive play. Competitive play requires 290 light or current set max light prior to competitive play. Your normal crucible gear would be your prepping for the competitive gearing process that is Trials of Osiris. YES this would slow down your gear capping that is a GOOD thing. You don’t want to reach max damage/light immediately enjoy the experience! The pvp gear would have perks/set bonuses that would provide better play in pvp alone! These perks are geared towards quick revives, reduced grenade/melee cooldowns NOT affecting supers in anyway. Placing perks that increase super recharge rate would negatively affect the game in my opinion. pvp weapons: These weapons will outshoot and out play pve weapons on average. Yes there will be pve weapons that are viable in pvp but won’t be the most ideal choice. The point of this post is to start discussion on separating pvp from pve gearing. I love both and love to gear for raiding I have so much fun raiding, but it becomes frustrating to say the least that I get out damaged by someone who is higher light than me simply because their RNG with higher light drops is better than mine at this point. This would provide a starting basis for balancing the pvp playing field. What are you thoughts? Suggestions on this topic? I have always suggested take the approach world of warcraft has to gearing and model after them if you are going to have an mmo, disagree if you want but wow has been one of the most if not the most successfull mmo ever created. They have learned the do’s and don’ts of mmo gearing process. TL:DR Separate gear progression for pve/pvp armor/weapons. Each set has perks that benefit that play stile IE raid perks, crucible perks. Each set gets you to max light for that play list.
