This is Bungie's way of extending the grind. For new players that don't already know, this is Bungie's MO.
They gave all the new players consumables to jump to level 20... from 20 getting to 40 doesn't take a lot. So... they let you level up A LOT faster than the rest of us. The quick leveling pretty much screwed you over in the process... you didn't get as many engrams getting to that level as someone that had to grind to get to 20 (x 3 in most cases). Less engrams = less weapon parts/armor materials.
Most veteran players had a vault full of legendary and exotic weapons/armor as well as the weapons/armor in each character's inventory when TTK launched so we were sitting on a pile of parts/materials. I've dismantled most of the year 1 weapons and have to wait for parts to do upgrades. Again... This was Bungie's intention.
For those of you that run past all of the adds and are crying about weapon parts/armor material, you did it to yourself. Green and blue engrams give you those parts/materials and you leave them on the table by running past everything. Those adds drop a lot more legendary engrams than ever before and now drop sublime engrams as well. This group can cry me a river... I hope you grind to the point of quitting.

I just deleted 3 year 1 exotics so I could infuse year 2 legendaries. I know the grind. Running patrols, doing bounties and running strikes drop enough to keep you going. For those who may not know: Engrams seem to drop more on precision kills (enemies die faster and you save bullets... win, win, win). You can infuse Warlock armor with Hunter armor or Titan armor and vice versa for each character.

The people I play with do kill all the adds and were still out of parts. This nerf sucks and carries no justification. We like to test out what we think might be good guns. On the flip side if grinding strikes I've played with random players that just run - there is nothing you can do about it.

It's -blam!-ing lame.

I kill all the adds just for the fun of it. I dismantles all the extra guns I had from HoW, because they gave out legendaries like they were candy during that. I'm still still short on weapon parts. Its likely because I'm pretty pick about perks, so if I find a weapon I like more than the one in using, I'll upgrade it and infuse it to ger it on par with my other weapons. I actually don't mind a grind, its just annoying when like 85% percent of my engrams are for armor so I can't get a hold of any weapon parts.

Agree, I think most brought it on themselves by spending them unwisely and not doing the most they can to get more. As you said, the same ones that run past all the adds are also the same ones that spend it all on faction rank up or infuse to get a 1 light level increase.

Sorry no.
