A Holo-Screen above flares to life, and in it was the room you saw earlier. The room was bright, stark white and almost tidy, with a brilliant purple sky in the background; a quick glance confirms that it depicts Exalin, but the figure on the screen seems to refute this theory.
Ginger faced the screen, the source of recording probably mounted on his desk, which gave a great angle of him sitting in a chair. He wore a purple T-Shirt, revealing the powerful physique beneath it, and the thick mop of blackish-brown hair revealed a pair of pointed ears, and iridescent purple eyes, eyes that appeared to lack the luster they had before. Eyes that stared cooly at the camera, that clearly lacked something vital, and were hungry for... Something. He had always appeared clean-shaven and armored in the propaganda ads and holo-films depicting him, but here he was, the rather hairy shadow of what he was. When he spoke, his voice was as crisp as it had been before, but there was a subtle edge to it, a staccato pronunciation of the words that hinted at loss, and anger.
"My name is Matthew Hallwinter, CT-362831, Lord Admiral of the Imperial Navy, and a Centurion of Atlas. This message is the last I ever plan to make, and perhaps the most important, though I know not the audience it is intended for. Perhaps I mean to inform a future generation of my time, and myself and my team, or perhaps I mean to remind myself of who I am."
He shakes his head sadly,
"Because I'm not who I am anymore. The man I was had died long ago, on Exalin, with my spirit; on Thorisis, with my body; in Hell, with my mind; and in Europa, with my friends. I was a known as a hero to billions, and as the Butcher of a Thousand Worlds to billions more. I was a soldier, a warrior, but what made me that was the fact that at my core, I am broken. I found myself a family, an identity, and a calling, but since then I've lost every single one of those. It has sharpened me, honed me, matured me, and broken me, and that makes it my greatest weapon, and my most potent weakness. Now, I find myself alone in the void, with nobody by my side, and nothing to hold me back. I must find who, and what, I really am, and for that I must disappear. To whoever may be watching this video, my message will remove authentication prerequisites for information, and unlock... Hoards of mine. Do not look for me, or mourn my departure. Farewell, oh Galaxy mine. It's past time a new monster took my place."
