How about this...... Its a -blam!-ing shooter. It is not, by any stretch of the imagination, an MMO. I will continue to play if its FUN! If anyone has played any true MMOs then you'll understand that your social network of friends and guildies keep you logging in, not .... "oh hey, look at that!! I can wait a week or suffer RNG and thays cool and compelling gameplay!!! Wow gimme moar rng and waiting!!" Sounds -blam!-ing stupid. Also, this game is buy to play.... Let me repeat, BUY TO PLAY. Shareholders dont care after box sales how many people log in everyday, they got there money. If this game were monthly subscription based then losing people would hurt revenue monthly..... On a buy to play system its similiar to a gym membership mentality. A gym wants your money and if you don't show up then thats more space for others. So they dont care if you show, they can sell more memberships then they have physical space and they are betting on you not showing up. Similiar with bungie. Why should they artificially hold people back with time gates and RNG? Everyone bought the game bungie, you got paid, activision got paid. People will play when new DLC is released and venture to new games when they come out. Difference is if you make a good product people will keep coming back to your game. Case in point, Everquest, the original. Whats it going on now.... 20 expansions? People wander off to play other games for a bit but they always come back. Send the interns home and learn some things about your player base. If this would have been a monthly sub based model..... You folks would be in big trouble.

  •
Also, this game is buy to play.... Let me repeat, BUY TO PLAY. Shareholders dont care after box sales how many people log in everyday, they got there money.
Right, I'm sure the shareholders don't care at all about the future DLC sales or microtransactions. Last I checked, high player retention yields larger revenue for future releases. What you're saying is simply ignorant and misleading.

  • Let me help you out you crayon eating mother -blam!-er..... If you invest 1000 $ of you hard earned cash into a company that makes video games that makes you a shareholder... Get it phucko? And if you get 4000 $ back you EARNED money on your investment. Guess what... Your paid. Bungie got paid. Now there is no reoccurring monthly sub fee is there..... The only way they make more money is by making more content and selling it. They do not make the game "last longer" unless you want to grind ( rng / I worked hard for my exotic cause the dice roll favored me horseshit ) So tell me, time gating and rng is a what? A feature? Other shooters, like battlefield and call of duty dont need to reward weapons randomly or by rng or make you wait, you earn them by putting in hours. You assure yourself your weapons by investing your time into it and guess what? Those 2 games have a healthy, rabid player base that consume dlc as well. They keep playing.... So whos the ignorant -blam!- now? These are both shooters as is destiny. Go back to trolling low IQ high school kids or go to work for destiny, sounds like your off to a great start.

  • From the Bungie-Activision contract summary on Wikia: * Bungie will receive $2.5 million per year from 2010 through 2013 to develop Destiny. * Bungie will receive between 20 and 35% of cumulative operating income for Destiny, depending on the total amount of income. * Bungie is eligible for a number of performance and sales-based bonuses depending on Destiny meeting certain development milestones and sales goals. Sources: Wikia: http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Bungie-Activision_Contract Full Contract Here: http://documents.latimes.com/bungie-activision-contract/ Operating Income is defined as the amount of profit realized from a business's operations after taking out operating expenses. Bungie gets between 20% and 35% of cumulative operating income. Weird, so I guess the other 65%-80% gets thrown out into the streets. As it pertains to microtransactions (a type of operating income), player retention is strongly related to in-game sales revenue. There is every reason for Bungie to continue to motivate players to continue playing. Activision takes the majority of the operating income, so you know they're in the same boat. Now, back to your original comment:
Shareholders dont care after box sales how many people log in everyday, they got there money.
Omitting the grammatical errors that earn you front row seat on the short bus, this is an incorrect statement. The investors/licensee's in this case (Activision) VERY much care about how many people log in every day because those numbers are related to the current operating income AND potential operating income. They care so much that in the contract, there are agreement termination clauses based on both unit sales and operating income.
So whos the ignorant -blam!- now?
The statement you made is still ignorant and misleading, "phucko."

Ok, so rule number 1 in internet debating is point out grammatical errors to discredit the author from any valid point. Ok grammer -godwinslaw!- you win, you can validate yourself as well due to your internet research skills. However your research still proved that my statement is true. No matter the percentages, they got paid a flat percentage. As did Activision and the other shareholders. You skipped over my point that Destiny is flat out a shooter with more cut scenes. Battlefield and Call of Duty have a tried and true recipe for yearly success that does not submit its playernase to a ridiculous RNG system or time locked content and try to convince the masses that its for our own good. Because we as consumers mow through content. I played all the Halos and Battlefield and Call of Duty franchises. My issue was that Destiny provides artificial barriers as "content" when they actually get "paid" for releasing DLC. Which they also cut up and give it to us in parts, yeah.... Thats content. If I was a shareholder I would be worried that this business practice goes against traditional practices shown by battlefield and Call of Duty franchises that are successful. Either way, ill also man up and say I was in a foul mood after rng in raids today. I apologise for being a dick.
