Because when a girl is gaming people treat her differently and she has actual struggles in how she's viewed by other gamers. There would be just hammers if people would treat women like they were any other gamer.

It doesn't matter how you feel because others still view you differently. When I play I don't feel like a girl gamer, just a gamer, but when I'm signaled out for being a girl that's what I am, not one of the others but being put apart from them because of my gender. I want to just be a gamer but I don't get to be treated like a gamer because of my gender. Some people will treat you just like any other gamer but as long as some people don't if you ever talk openly on a mic in a multyplayer or join a party with some randoms and maybe a couple of your friends you're likely to be the girl gamer to them and they aren't guaranteed to treat you the same.

Because the moment a girl's voice comes through the headset guy gamers tend to act like compete idiots. I get it if a girl gamer is ranting on and on but I tend to see a lot of immediate childish reactions to it. Honestly, I'm guessing it's because a lot of gamers aren't used to having a normal conversation with a girl IRL.

In logic, stereotypes are actually viewed as a form of fallacy, but we'll save that conversation for another time. I believe what the poster meant to say, more concisely, is that: you cannot paint all male gamers with the same brush.

As a gamer all I see on a daily basis when girls get into the game is harassment from immature little losers so I'm sorry that the stereotype, for the most part, is true.

Good point. I really dont care who I play with as long as they know how to play the game and if they dont know how, they listen to advice and help. I have been playing Destiny since launch and I have played with about 3 girls in that time. One of them is the GF of a clan mate and is cool as a cucumber and she is always welcome in my fireteam. One of them was a 16 year old who knew everything about not just Destiny, but life as well. She spent the first 20 minutes of the mission complaining about her personal life and bad mouthing and generalizing all men as stupid, liars and dogs. That went on until I ripped her a new vagina (figuratively) and shut her arrogant ass down. Im a damn grown up and I dont have ANY time in my life to put up with some adolescent know it all telling me how I should be in my marriage. Same goes for dudes. I will rip them a new vagina as well if they need it.

I'm not saying stereo types are good by any means. But it's our own fault if we allow ourselves to fall into a stereotype. It's up to the individual to make sure they cannot be categorized that way.
