I don't have an issue with timegating so much as I have an issue with windowing. When a new quest becomes available, leave it available. No qualms with content being gradually released, just keep it accessible.

They do keep the quest up? The real windowing issue is the specific daily.

I am sure a lot of people had issues that kept them playing one specific day as well. At least keep the window up for a while for people that have things that take priority over a game.

Sleeper Simulant quest was up for 2 days and is not currently available. We don't know about No Time to Explain yet because it just released yesterday. Yeah, the daily story requirements are a bit of a nuisance and could be better evaluated.

I got the Sleeper Simulant when it was available and I picked up the quest and did the first step for No Time To Explain yesterday, so I assume I'll be able to finish it, but I couldn't agree more. It blows that anyone who was on vacation or had plans either of those two days has missed the opportunity to get these guns until Bungie-only-knows when. I actually really like that stuff is becoming available over time. It's nice to have new stuff popping up now and then. But once a quest is in, it should stay in.
