Chapter 3 of the frontiersman (the crucible)

"Get up. Seriously get UP. We're gonna be late! Charlie warned." "Ughhh, what time is it?" Gears looked over and saw that it was 5:00 am, four hours after Charlie had initially fallen asleep. "And why can't we wait a few more hours? Maybe until 8:00? Implored Gears. "Oh cmon man, Violet was easier to wake up. Plus the tram to get to the airfield so we can drop off in the crucible leaves in fifteen minutes!!!" Charlie said, tapping his foot impatiently, waiting while the sluggish Exo finally got up. "Dude, are those... Pancakes?" Asked Gears. Charlie nodded his head, clearly pleased that his bait to get the Exo up had worked. As Charlie left to get his gear ready he chuckled to himself, thinking that for an Exo he had extremely good senses. It must have been the new version of his programming. Charlie walked out into the kitchen where Violet was sitting eating her pancakes drowned in syrup ravenously. "Good morning Charlie." Greeted Violet, "the pancakes are delicious!" Sitting down to eat, very happy about he complement, Charlie responded, "Thank you, I am happy you like the pancakes. So after we've all eaten our fill we should get going to the tram. That way we can scout out the arena." "Good idea," said Violet, surprised by how well Charlie had thought this out. Gears walked in, following the smell of pancakes found his seat at the small round table in the kitchen. He then proceeded to wolf down his helping of food, eager to prove his worth to Shaxx. "The pancakes are great!" Gears said. Beaming full of pride from being complemented twice in a matter of minutes, graciously accepted the praise. "We should get going now, as the tram leaves in five minutes," Charlie said. The others nodded their assent , both clearly eager to get going. _______________________________________________ After the tram ride to the airfield and the long flight to Venus to fight in an arena called the thieve's den, they quickly gathered up all their gear, and headed out. Charlie hid in the tunnel, while Violet was waiting on top of the fallen drop ship, both ready to provide cover fire for their Exo friend that would bait enemies into following him then getting blown apart. After about 30 sniper kills, the game ended. "I click have used someone like you in the field, guardians," said Shaxx in his usual menacing and deep voice. "Well, that was fun," said Violet, surprised she enjoyed the crucible that much. "Agreed, this sure beats sleeping," said Gears, stifling a yawn, still tired from reading a documentary of the twilight gap late into the night. "We should do this again sometime," said Charlie, his friends murmuring in agreement. _______________________________________________ After the flight back to their "base of operations" as the Titan likes to call it, Violet went into her room to read, while Charlie cooked dinner, and Gears ate donuts he had stashed away while watching Funniest Guardian Videos, a show showing the bloopers of guardians in the field. "What ya eating?" Asked Charlie wondering what the Titan was munching on THIS time. "Donuts," Gears said, so absorbed in the show, that he didn't realize his donuts were walking away, carried by and invisible Hunter. Unfortunately for Gears, he noticed to late, and all his donuts were hidden in the cupboard, by a snickering Charlie. The reason he was snickering was that he replaced Gears's donut box with a package of fishing worms. When Gears's reached in, he wished he didn't have all those sensors that allow him to feel the slimy creatures wriggle, completely grossing Gears out. "WHAT HE HECK HAPPENED TO MY DONUTS?!?!" Gears asked so loudly that Charlie had nothing to do but crack up laughing, giving away his position. A mistake that caused Gears to body check Charlie out he window, who landed in the speakers spin by globe, spun around until he vomited ALL over the speaker. "Sorry," Charlie croaked, barely able to keep form vomiting again, as the Titan asked where his donuts were. "They're in the cupboard," Charlie said, just about to puke as he got whisked high into the air. Violet came out of her room, to see shattered glass, and the Titan body checking someone out of the window, she then realized that Charlie must have done something REALLY dumb, like stealing Gears's donuts. Rushing out of the house to almost run into the speaker heading away, covered in vomit, and muttering angrily. Violet turned the corner and saw Charlie spinning in the speakers dome, with Gears interrogating him about his lost donuts. Once finding the off switch that controls the dome, she helped Charlie down. "Did you take his donuts, again?" Violet asked the vomit soaked Charlie. "Yeah, that was a bad idea," said Charlie groaning in pain. "Well, let's get you back to the base," said Violet, concerned that he would end up vomiting in HER. With that the duo made their way back to the base, to find the Titan munching happily on his donuts. After helping Charlie into his room, Violet headed back out, pondering why Gears would do that, and more importantly, why Charlie would be so stupid to steal Gears's food.
