The New Currency - Why can't you earn it?

This is my first serious post on this forum, as well as in general. I have to speak my mind and ask the great studio, Bungie, a question that has come up during my most recent trip to the tower, to restock for my continual fight against the darkness. This new currency, golden age silver (ironic that they use silver coins) is a very rare commodity, like the rare coins, you might as well as call them legendary coins. Is it just me, or is this new currency just Activision's excuse for making more money than off of the expansions? Rare coins are great because they were rare, and if you want to have exotics from Xur, than you have to work for it in game. But this new currency has no way of being earned in game (as in the random patrols for rare coins, or just grinding and looting until you get more coins), so why are they rarer than rare coins? The silver is only for buying emotes, which is just for looks, like say, the sparrows, jumpships, shaders, and emblems, but those listed are only bought for Glimmer (maybe a couple thousand, give or take a hundred). What is so special about Emotes needing the silver? An improvement would be to make it earn-able in game, so that way buying it isn't the only way to get it. It would then be more acceptable as a "What do you value, time or money?" statement instead of just a cheap way to earn money (even I accept that you do need to make money... but I believe that $5 for 500 silver isn't the way to do it). Another thing you could do instead (if you don't like the first idea) is to make an exchange rate (like a million glimmer for ten silver, there are millions of destiny players overflowing with glimmer) to make that shop matter to the ordinary Destiny player. Bungie, I have been with you since Halo 3, I would just like to maintain that all the features are still accessible to the guardians who aren't overflowing with dollars. Please don't regard me as cheap, I'm just representing the part of the community that DOESN'T want to pay $1 for something that has the same value as an emblem. Please consider, if you ever read this Bungie. I remain a fan, I just don't understand this particular move in the game I have grown to enjoy very much. Thank you for reading. P.S. If you aren't from Bungie, feel free to criticize, critique, or comment! If you have any other topics you want me to tell or ask the wonderful studio, Bungie, feel free to tell me. I'll look into it as part of my fight against the darkness.

  • well, bungie did say before they dropped the patch with silver that it was their implementation of microtransactions. this is pretty much the same thing other games do. charge you for stuff you dont need to play the game, in bungies case .... emotes. think black op / cod gun shaders. same concept. however if you dont want to buy them they are purely asthetic, real no effect on gameplay, drops, etc. i dont think there is much of an argument here.
