It's not bulk up/download speed. It's ping time.

  • It's both. Bad ping however won't get you a ban, it will, at most, send you to orbit.

  • Bans come from reports. Reports come from visible red bars. Red bars come from bad ping times. Nobody is measuring your bulk up or down speed. Participating in a video game is not like downloading one.

Your constantly uploading and downloading while playing a game, hence why latency is measured and up and down recorded. You don't have to be reported to be looked at and banned I don't know where you got your information. Edit: Here is some proof: "The second wave is happening as we speak. As always, we start small to ensure our tools are properly calibrated, and widen the net..." -bungie They use tools to find and monitor network traffic, reports are special cases that get looked at individually after so many "strikes" come in to be viewed.

  • Up and downloading small packets of data. Bulk speed does not matter nearly as much as ping time. Believe me or not.
