So Our Friend Was Getting Bullied On-stream...
No video, but earlier today I was running the raid with a good group of friends. Everything was cool until we got to The Daughters. We ran through it really smoothly despite the problem. Here was the problem: one of my friends decided to stream it. And he had about 70 something people watching it at the time. Now here's the big kicker, his voice sounds like a 12 year old amped on sugar, and everyone began making fun of him about it. Some people started telling him that he'd never beat the raid, that he's trash and he should go back to bed, and pretty much any bad insult you could imagine. This made a lot of us angry. Our fireteam leader (name withheld in case of moderator attacks) started encouraging him. He kept him in the zone, made sure he ignored those guys and that he was calm. Now, here's one thing to consider: he's autistic. So he isn't very good in these situations. And no one in the chat knew that and they just kept being overall (pardon my language) dicks. And whenever he got worked up, he got really emotional and overreacted about every little thing. (Not in the angry kind of way, but in the more [b][i]fearing[/i][/b] scheme of things). We made him turn off the stream, and just kept going. But for that time, he didn't break, and he did fine. He calmed down, and he didn't give up. We never beat oryx, but we plan to kick him in the rear tomorrow.

You guys are clearly an awesome bunch. If you're on the One, invite me from time to time. My old clan are about 12-13 ish and I don't really mind, they were awesome fun but they were on 360, and until they upgrade, I'm a little bit friendless haha (:

Good luck trying to win every battle..the internet is filled with over 90% of jerks so its a losing battle. Best to block/ignore, they crave the attention you give them. Fighting with them is attention and a waste of time

Autistic or not doesn't matter. But the first rule of streaming is: Have a Mod that can time out or ban people, otherwise, don't stream. It would have fixed any/all problems. Second rule of streaming is: Don't do it if you can't take it. And as someone else on here said, 70 viewers is quite a lot, so proof or it didn't happen. Especially on a Friday, 70 is a lot for a regular non streamer.

Glad you guys were there for your boy!! Cyber bullies are nothing but big (pardon my language now) pussies that would simply crap their pants if ever confronted, face-to-face. They feel protected behind their digital devices, but if you ever caught up to them in reality, they'd crumble like the little (or not so little) punk-ass, waste of biological matter that they really are. Great job guys!! LOVE it when people have each other's back, for good. ^_^

Good people are hard to come by nowadays, and for whatever reason, this game attracts them. I hope your friend keeps smiling and doesn't let them bring him down. Besides, you've got Oryx to kill, ain't nobody got time to listen to negativity!! "Shine on little light."

My mom fought in court so they wouldn't put me on the meds. How nice of her. The bitches in pre-school couldn't handle me. Then again, she's the reason I'm this way... A love/hate relationship.

Everyone at my school loved encouraging this special needs boy in my 7th grade year. He would always shoot a couple baskets at lunch and if he missed we cheered him on anyway. He got better throughout the year and is now a pretty good shot. Now yes I know that some people with high pitched voices are annoying but not all. I have a really deep voice but I have some friends that have higher than normal voices in-game. I guess sometimes we just gotta ignore people.

I might have believed this if you said like 3 veiwers but 70 veiwers.... thats incredibly tough to get. And for that I dont believe this for a second.

I teach special ed and I have a child with autism in my class. It's crazy how easily someone with autism can get worked up. I think people would say that he shouldn't stream but I would recommend the opposite. Being able to face bad encounters and learn to work his way through them in a positive manner is going to help him in the long run.

2 RepliesMy younger cousin who has autism, is one of the brightest kids I know. For anyone to make fun of someone with any condition, let alone autism, is down right horrible. Those types of people will be lucky if they are half as bright as someone with autism. It's a shame you still heat about this.

Thank you for having his back. My oldest son could have been him. He is twelve and has autism but he loves playing Destiny and he friends anyone and everyone. Thanks again.

I hate to play devil's advocate here but, as someone who has autism himself, its likely your friend got a temporary "kick" out of just having a stream. He should have turned it off, but as someone who has "recovered", I understand the feeling of nervous apprehension mixed with masochistic happiness attention brings. If your friend was being "autistic" (any of the anti-social symptoms associated with it) he should have never been streaming in the first place. Hate is bad but hopefully this will be a learning experience. It takes hardship to get past the social obstacles placed in his way.
