That is not their position on why they nerfed G horn. They said they did it because player fireteams were being restricted by the players to only those that had G horn.
Exactly, I never said they didn't. They nerfed it because it was too good, which by extension created an exclusionary sense of elitism in Endgame fireteams. Now that Ghorn was nerfed, though, that elitism wouldn't exists anymore (at least not related to Gjallarhorn). So, while that exclusion dictated a nerf, it in no way still dictates leaving it in behind. :P I'm not even sure if your statement was directed at me, but yeah, haha.

  • I feel compelled to add something that a buddy of mine saw that I didn't: Destiny year one was the Beta. Let that sink in. It makes sense. Bungie hopping back and forth between positions, buffing things then nerfing and then buffing them again, hastily adding an in game chat function that is still lackluster after player backlash at having no in game voice chat channels. It's a long list. All of the things you listed as complaints against Bungie's handling of Destiny is explained in the idea that Destiny Year One was the Beta.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. At face value, it appeared as though you were misrepresenting Bungie's position. Though I still firmly believe that Bungie created that mindset of "you must have G horn or you don't get to play" by not including matchmaking for mandatory-fireteam activities such as the raids. And there were other factors that contributed to that mindset, such as the bad leveling system that was based on light level, based on RNG armor drops from the raid. I mean, we are talking about a multiplayer game here. At its core, Destiny is a multiplayer game that is intended to be enjoyed while playing with others. And the best pve content is restricted to premade fireteams. I don't understand why Bungie doesn't add matchmaking queue options to things like the raids. I think they said something like... The raid doesn't have matchmaking because it requires much coordination and teamwork, something that we feel randomly constructed parties can't do very well. Well guess what Bungie, it hasn't taken us very long at all as a community, to find out how to beat the raids with random people. In fact we excell at it. We've demonstrated that it CAN be done, the proof lies with the LFG websites that have been made in response to, or as result of the lack of a matchmaking queue for raids etc... Hell, by my 3rd time through VoG when Destiny came out, I knew the raid inside and out. Don't even need a MIC, really. I know you didn't talk about matchmaking in your OP, but I feel the lack of matchmaking for the raid etc... causes a host of unnecessary problems. One of those problems was the G horn exclusion rule that inevitably came around from the players. At the very least, players who didn't have G horn could at least TRY the raid through a matchmaking queue instead of being excluded from it completely because you didn't have a G horn.
