Let me ask you this? Your whole argument is based around bungie providing a good reason why the guns can't be brought into year 2 can you provide a good reason (aside from nostalgia) why they should be brought into year 2?
Thanks for the cordiality, haha. And, yes, I think I can. 1. As we all saw in TDB, by only having a small amount of gear worth using, it simply led to everyone wearing the same armor, and using the same guns, which was in COMPLETE contrast to the way the game was marketed. Destiny was supposed to be about "becoming legend," going on epic adventures for endlessly powerful and unique loot to create a unique character... which TDB all but ruined. 2. In HoW, there were so many negative reactions to Etheric Light, assuming that if Bungie let players upgrade their old gear, they'd be too attached to it to move on (just like people are arguing with TTK, mind you). However, that was TOTALLY not the case, and players absolutely wanted to use all the sweet, NEW gear. And, by giving players the choice to use what they wanted to use, gear diversity was at an all-time high. Iron Banner, Vault of Glass, Trials, Crota's End, Prison of Elders, Vendor gear; it actually made the community vibrant again! And, not only that, but it breathed new life into old activities (like the raids), because they were actually worth running, again. Thanks to Ascension, every player- both new and old- had a reason to experience the full breadth of content that Destiny offered; every Raid, every strike, every PvP arena. In short, it made Destiny a bigger game. 3. With TTK, however, we're seeing the side effects of TDB all over again; gear variety is low, player choice is largely reduced, and essentially 70% of Destiny's content (including the first two raids) is no longer worth doing. I don't care who you are, that's terrible game design- particularly for a game with as much potential content as Destiny! The Raids were supposed to be the backbone of Destiny's PvE, and now they're DEAD, despite the fact that HoW proved that they didn't need to be. ________ Obviously, I do feel a ton of nostalgia toward my old gear- I'm not denying that. However, part of the reason I have such strong nostalgia in the first place was because of how much a enjoyed where it all came from. And, as I think I've laid out fairly clearly, continuing to keep those experiences relevant is not only good for nostalgia, but is in Destiny's best interest going forward.
