Question. What do YOU pick?

To stop school shootings teachers should git gud

Increase care for the mentally ill

It's easy it's called locking guns up in gun safes and only having people who can use a firearm responsibly and safely use them, don't let kids or people with suicidal and/or murderous tendencies get near them. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

Edited by CaptxnChaos: 10/19/2015 2:18:38 PMWe have a problem if each state gets their own 'state massacre' alongside their 'state bird' and 'state flower'.

Hmm, solution to school shootings? Hmmm, how about either having more guns or no guns? Those are the only logical solutions, amerite? Lul.

I don't support banning guns. Nobody is trying to take guns away. But there is something wrong when anybody can accumulate a mini Arsenal and use it to end many people's lives. I don't understand why NRA people and right wing conservatives are against stricter background checks. Also maybe not everyone needs a extended mag assault rifle. You can still get it but just after you've demonstrated your responsible and had training. Unfortunately this is not a black an white issue and there's a lot of stuff that is going to be addressed and discussed. I just wish it was an actual ongoing discussion. It seems like it only gets brought up when something terrible happens. Then it gets blamed on mental illness and everyone does the same dance.

End school

Stop Roasting certain people XD

My school already has guards, they've had guards since the shooting at that one place in CT however many years ago that was. I forgot because this is only my 2nd year living here
-
Actually, I'm not a pacifist. I just like any of these answers. The real problem isn't having guns or not, but the people who use them. Most people don't consider that.

Theres a cop that graduated from my school and hes around pretty often, so i think my schools safe from a shooting.

Edited by Miharu_Tansho: 10/16/2015 6:30:12 AMLets start with some realities. Less firearms will not necessarily equal less violence in the schools. Remember, the worst massacre at a U.S. school didn't involve a firearm to inflict casualties (Bath School massacre, 1927, 44 dead). There will always be a means for those inclined and motivated to commit violence. Labeling the schools as gun free does not work, if anything, it just advertises them as being soft targets. Armed security is expensive and school budgets are already strained. In nearly every shooting the gunman is killed either by a responding individual or by themselves when faced with an armed response. Considering those realities, the solution is clear. Allowing volunteers from the school staff to be armed. Teachers and staff already care about the children. A concealed firearm is less disruptive to students than an obvious one on a security guard. Additional training, beyond what is required for a concealed carry permit, could be mandated free of charge. What that does is make schools a less attractive target for violence. A shooter will know that there will be an immediate armed response, will not know where that armed response will come from which makes it harder to neutralize immediately, and the attack will be ended sooner which will save lives. Keeping in mind that school shootings are a statistical aberration given how many schools operate in this country every day without a shooting incident, this is the lowest cost and most effective solution. The deeper issues surrounding violence and politics surrounding that are a separate larger problem that should not be wrapped up in finding an immediate solution that can quickly be put into place.

Gee I heard of this place called England where guns are illegal and there hasn't been a fatal shooting in THREE YEARS!!!!!
-
Hahahaha what is wrong with you people saying that you'd prefer highly trained guards at schools than to ban guns, I'm Australian so obviously guns aren't an issue here but think if there are trained guards at schools holding guns what example does that set for children
-
Neither of these options
-
Who ever chose the first one needs to take a look at reality. So a school shooter comes busting through. Denzel Washington comes out of the teacher and breaks the school shooters arm dislocating everything then jumping back into the teacher then teach the rest of the class...
-
STOP PUBLICIZING THE DAMN THINGS! Honestly, the reason there's been such a massive spike in them is because every time there is one it gets blasted all over the country, and even if they don't directly say the perpetrators name or face, they still win by getting a moment in the spotlight. So keep the news of shootings local, so that the community and not the country can grieve.

Microwave it

Install auto sentry turrets in the ceiling that activate when they detect gunshots

Be kind to people. Every one is fighting an unseen battle that you can either fix or make worse. Don't make it worse. Be the friendly guy and stop these shootings from happening

The media could do more to help by: Not starting coverage of school shootings with sirens blaring, flashing lights, and plastering pictures of the shooter all over tv screens and newspapers across the World. They should keep the focus on the victims, and the shooter should always be portrayed as the pathetic individuals they are, not sensationalised into some kind of anti-hero, or in other words; pin up boy for scumbags. In short the media should stop facilitating the fantasies of fvck witted retards whose only chance of "fame" is mass murder and suicide. There is also the problem of easy access to guns. But as this is specific to the US, I might as well talk to the wall.
