I'm sure the reason most of us use the sword is to look cool, so is it to much to ask to leave the blade visual when out of heavy ammunition too and just remove the light visual effects to the sword to indicate no heavy ammunition

I don't think that's the problem. I lost my sword reforged quest from my solar sword that should be upgraded to exotic (flame-razor or something like that). :)
