Destiny and the Bible

I have seen apparent similarities between Destiny and the Bible in general. For example: The collapse is like the Fall of Man. The Guardians are like Christians fighting sin. The Speaker is like the Bible itself, since he is sort of like the Traveler's word, and the Bible is God's word. Also, with TTK's recent release, the Darkness closes in, but the Light fights back and wins, which is like Jesus' return. The different factions are like different theological views. If you do not believe in Jesus, God, or that the Bible is true, please be respectful and do not post hateful comments and just make a fool of yourself. Believe what you want. I also realize that this doesn't completely align with Destiny's lore, and you need to understand that I am making this understandable for the average Destiny player. Have a nice day and God bless you.

  • The speaker IS like the Bible. It's supposed to be this pure and wise thing, guiding our way. But, deep down we sense all the double meaning and hidden agendas, and we all think that in the end is going to turn out to have been secretly evil the entire time. Glad you pointed that out for us.

    • Except the speaker is a false prophet... Why did he banish Osiris? Real god has been forgotten in this universe. Everyone worships the traveler now. But remember: any power besides gods is an abomination.

      • You may see it this way, but consider this: Christianity existed amongst the denizens of pre Traveller Earth. We have point C on Widow's court inside a church for example. Then the Traveller came. I don't know if you've noticed, but the Tower citizens worship the Traveller - not Jesus. The Traveller overthrew Earthly religions. The Speaker is the High Priest of the Traveller. We each carry a Ghost, born of the Traveller, who resurrects us, literally, every time we die. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the light, the only way to eternal life is through me", but it turns out that the Destiny universe that has been proved incorrect. In the Destiny universe the only way to eternal life is through the Traveller. I would argue that Destiny is specifically oppositional to Christianity, and that the parallels that you see are there not to make the story allegorical, but to show that the Traveller has power that we traditionally associate with Godhood.

      • I have nothing against athiest, but whenever they completely deny the Bible without no knowledge of how the Bible was formed it really pisses me off.

          • religion finds its way into virtually every corner of life. The rise and fall of mankind and the similarities between all of the world religions continually show up. That's just part of human life

          • Who do people call it the Bible. Last time I checked, the titles is just "Bible". There's no "The". Legitimate question, it bothers me immensely and I can't find any answer online. Anyway, the entire "light vs darkness" applies to almost everything. It's not exactly specific

          • If you post anything about religion (or lack of it), you have no right to expect individuals who disagree with your beliefs will not post. Here's the deal:leave ALL faith-based posts off these forums. nothing good will come from it. If you're allowed to express your faith, than you must accept that others will do the same.

(Catholic joke- you're all going there anyway)

Believe what you want.
Spoken like a true old school Christian, complete intolerance for others beliefs. In other words, if you don't believe in my faith then shut up....but so not to sound too unchristian I'll add that you can believe what you like. That's basically what you said. How nice.

                  • I don't understand why atheist and Christians must always feud in the comment section of anything religion based. Debates are nice to have as long as the don't devolve into slanderous speech and name calling. But, a lot of times both sides love to do both. It's rare to find nice Christians and agnostic atheist who get along with each other on the Internet I'm an agnostic atheist myself, and I have good reasoning for it. But, I personally believe each man should be able to live how they see fit, so long as they don't push their beliefs on someone. And you didn't, you were just showing some comparisons. So I don't see why an atheist is flaming on this.

No intention of being respectful, rediculous beliefs deserve ridicule. There are plenty of good v evil stories that predate the Bible and have the same story ark. Just incredible that you stoll have an imaginary friend.
