King's Fall Raid Gun Critique

NOTE: This is just a general overview and not a complete breakdown. With that said, here are some pro/con aspects of the raid weapons. Pros: * Deals bonus damage to Taken guaranteed. *Cocoon ability allows for fluid gun-play(so long as 4 seconds have passed). *Highest base attack value in the game currently. Cons: *Primaries lack elements(First Raid to do so). *Low stability and reload speed compared to other legendaries of the same gun class. *Mediocre perks overall. My personal input: The raid weapons are decent but not nearly worth the effort to get them. Their high attack value makes them more valuable as a resource than an actual weapon. As they are raid weapons, they should act ideally in a "swarmed" scenario. Thus, I recommend boosting the stability and reload speed of all the guns. Feel free to give more input.

  • In my opinion the raid weapons are underwhelming accept for the sniper and the pulse and the heavy weapons . I would argue that some of the primary vendor weapons are better like the scout not like the others , hungjury , vanity etc . Is this a bad thing ? no i think its great that faction and vendor weapons can outshine the majority of the raid weapons they even look better in my opinion .

  • From what I've gotten so far: Auto w/ crowd control Scout w/ rangefinder Pulse w/ glass half full Shotgun w/ touch of mercy type perk Fusion w/ surrounded Rocket w/ army of one The auto is garbage. Scout and pulse are pretty good. Shotgun is solid. Fusion idk I never used it, just keep sacing them for levels. Rocket w/ AoO is sweet and actually really clutch.

  • I'm ok with them having no reload speed, it further enhances the gameplay style they offer with cocoon. The fact that they all buck like mule is just awful though. They either need better fixed perks, or the ability for all perks to drop randomly (except cocoon) so that it's possible to get a usable version.

      • You do realize that the reload doesn't have to be high because logically you'd just swap away from it for five seconds and it would be reloaded while you were also doing damage.

        • For fck sakes people need to stop complaining about the raid weapons not having burns for primaries and stop acting like its so NEW. It ISNT NEW. Burn primaries are always in HARD MODE not stupid ass normal mode. This information is EVERYWHERE but for some reason everyone chooses to ignore it and go around badmouthing the raid. How blind can you get?

          • Most likely the heroic primaries will be elemental. The reason the drop in normal is just to boost your light level up so you could do the heroic. Much like crota where only hard mode dropped primaries.

          • The effort to get them? The Raid is the most fun part of The Taken King at least till Trials come out. Plus after your first run it should only take around a hour to complete it.

          • I like the sniper and scout but not a huge fan of hand cannon (the range is crap at first but improves greatly when upgraded to max) but honestly the dead orbit scout ( aka scoutbringer lol) is really good and super considering infusing the hand cannon into it. The shotgun is ok and more ideal for oryx fight (if your doing crowd control) but i love how it goes from rocket launcher focused raids and activities to snipers lol not complaining but i find it funny lol now the question i get is not do u have a ghorn, its u got a black spindal?

And the reason the primaries have slow reloads is to compensate for the perk cocoon where if used right u never have to ever reload your weapons anyways. The dps is AMAZING if u know to use the cocoon perk. U blow up a whole clip of the raid scout or pulse rifle switch to the raid sniper or shotty, blow up that clip, then switch to the raid machine gun and... Blow up that clip then switch back to the primary and rinse and repeat and of course u want to give yourself 4sec in between to get the cocoon perk. The raid is heavily based on how much dps u can do within a very short window and reloading weapons can slow your overall dps so cocoon is pretty good. I do admit tho that the primaries do lack great perks but cocoon makes up for it. Hope this helps out people with their views of the raid primaries. Oh and i just got the raid auto rifle... SHIT IS HORRIBLE lol

            • There is a part of me that woudnt mind ever having elemental primaries again as it just becomes too much of a logical choice over other potentialy more interesting legendaries, for example the strike gear like the treads upon stars is a great replacment for the vision and the imago loop if your lucky enough can have a near identical fatebringer role on it, that being said i do find the raid guns a bit underwleming compared to vault and crota ( and not just because of the primaries not having a burn) i mean i would have used fatebringer and vision wether they had a burn or not. I would much prefer if the raid dropped some kind of consumable ( it can be called elemental telemetry) or something that allows you to put a random burn on any purple primary you want.

            • The raid primaries REALLY should have elemental damage. Especially with the new elemental modifier introduced in this weeks nightfall.

            • Agreed i dont use any raid guns. I just use them to beef up my current guns. Plus i find the fact that they all look identical to be an eye sore. Not a fan.

I'm actually a big fan of primaries not having elemental properties. Obviously elemental properties are vastly superior, but then I'm not going to use anything BUT raid guns which is the problem I ran into in Year 1 (even to the extent where an exotic primary was less appealing than an elemental).
