I don't know man. I've been playing from day one and like to put on some good old vanilla gear because it looks so good and you can't get it anymore, which kind of gives it that limited edition feel. And, personally I think it should stay that way, keeping all that old gear makes you feel like an elder in the community haha!

  • It can still feel "limited edition" without being obsolete.

  • Do you realize that essentially you just said that you don't want other players to have access to the fun toys you have because then you won't be able to flaunt things other people can't have? Basically, you just want to be a show off and make the game less fun for other people.

No I'm definitely not saying that, what I'm saying is I want it to be the cool thing you don't see anymore like, (Destiny year 5) "Wow man nice cloak!" "Haha thanks" "Where'd you get it?" *elder voice* "back when destiny was young, child" I want it to be that exclusive thing for that year one player you know? Like the limited edition ship, or the EV-30 Tumbler sparrow. The cool things that only the people that've been with destiny a while will have. Also a cloak is not a toy, I hardly wear it since my light level plummets when I use outside of the crucible, and I'm assuming this cloak will become even more less relevant as time goes on

  • Whether it's functional gear or cosmetic items, you still want to flaunt stuff other people can't get so you can stir up envy. I'm starting to think that's why no one will tell me what they love so much about MMOs. They don't want to admit that they just want a chance to show off and be jerks and put other people down.

  • Wait a minute... "This account has not played destiny" why are you on the forms? What do you care? And also, back to the conversation, you're looking at what I'm saying wrong, I don't want to show off, it's that myself, and other year one players like to have something cool, cosmetic and really awesome looking to show that they're year one. And most of us hardly use them, they just chill in the vault. Until you want to look really beastly. I don't have a full set of trials gear. I just could not get the cloak or bond to drop. Yeah, I'd like a chance to finish my sets. But I'm happy for people who have it, since they probably put more time in the game, so, now they have something to show for it.

  • We should be able to flaunt it. We were forever level 29 players. Something the noobs know nothing about. Everything is handed to them now. Some of us remember when VOG and Crota were a pain to run at the normal levels. Instant level 40's and light levels over 290 are now the norm.

  • So what's the point of you playing? Don't you find it exciting to have that one piece of gear your clan members don't have yet? I guess your just in it for the participation trophy. Well done, sir.

  • I'm not in a clan. I'm a solo player. But No. I get no thrill out of showing off stuff I have that other people don't have. What kind of shallow, selfish attitude is that to have? And frankly, I'm leery of anyone for whom it is a priority to see other people denied enjoyment in a video game. It's just a video game. I want to be left alone to play the blasted video game my own way. I'm not here to compete with anyone, and I'm sick of the PvP jerks who are trying to make the entire game, PvP and PvE alike, into a competition, even for the people who are strictly cooperative PvE players. It's appalling selfish.

  • The jerk is someone who doesn't understand that PVP is a competition and so is life. You must lead a pretty sheltered life to not have to compete at anything. It's your choice and your right to criticize us for the way we believe. It just doesn't make you right.

  • Your argument would have merit if it weren't for the fact that Destiny is primarily a PvE game. I'm a PvE player, and like most PvE players of Destiny, I'm trying to find ways to make the PvE portion of the game more enjoyable. I don't care what you do in your PvP. Meanwhile, way too many PvP jackwagons persist in trying to inject more PvP into the PvE portions of the game, mock and rundown PvE players who are sick of having PvP in their PvE quests, and want absolutely every bit of gear treated as a PvP trophy, all while they strut, brag, flaunt, and generally make immature asses of themselves. It's this whole cooperative vs. competitive mindset that convinced me that the only way to resolve the problem is to make PvE and PvP completely separate.

  •
Too be honest this doesn't feel like feedback, it feels like you just trolling mate
Says the guy repeatedly calling me "mate" after I told him not to do so. I find it interesting how many of the people on this board assume someone is trolling just because he's posting about something that doesn't matter to THEM. It smacks of narrow-mindedness. This is my feedback on how items should and shouldn't be treated in the game. It's a PvE game; loot in a PvE game shouldn't be treated like PvP trophies for flaunting. I'd like Bungle to change this. So I post about it.

  • Says the one who called me a "Show off" and "Jerk" I think I can call you mate. Mate. It's not narrow mindedness, it's identifying someone who is poking fun for, fun. Especially someone hasn't played destiny. Destiny may be a PvE game, but PvP is still a major part of this game. Think of Trials, and IB. And is does matter to me. Because I'd lose my awesome, limited edition, vanilla cape to new players who haven't played nearly as long as me

  • When your motivation is to show off, don't get mad at me just for pointing it out. I have three level 40 characters. Who are you talking about not having played Destiny? Mate According to what I've read on the forums, only about 15-20% of Destiny gametime is spent in PvP, and that's despite everything Bungle has done to shoehorn PvE players into PvP. I'd hardly call PvP a major part of the game if that's true. You wouldn't lose your "awesome, limited edition, vanilla cape" just because someone else got one. That's stupid. You'd still have your stupid cape; it just wouldn't make you such a special little snowflake any more. Why do you have such a problem with your fellow gamers having nice things too?

  • I've been trying to see how far I can get in Crota solo. I was working up to doing Nightfalls solo. There have been randoms in the area to help bring down bosses sometimes, but so far I've done all my quest stuff without a fireteam. Why? Do you have a point?

  • That's not my motivation, mate Check out the editors profile guys :) Well what you've read (if that's true) obviously does not factor in Trials or IB, remember how ticked off everyone was (still are) about the trials launch being pushed back? Remember the giant influx of people who jumped into the crucible for IB? mate Ok, think of the guy who has Fate of all Fools, (exotic scout rifle that was gifted to him by Bungie) imagine how much he loves that gun. Only he has it. It's the wow factor in the crucible. Then, imagine if everyone else had access to that gun. It would no longer be awesome, one of a kind, ultra rare. It would become a pre 2.0 Thorn. Everyone would have it. So it is no longer special. Think about the limited edition destiny pack. The ship especially, right now I haven't seen anyone else use it for months, and I regularly get people asking where I got it. Then all of a sudden everyone else can get it, and it becomes the VoG ship in vanilla destiny. And I don't have a problem with other gamers having cool stuff. I just think only some of the gamers should have access to certain things. Mate

  • You admit that you want to flaunt stuff that other people can't get and that it becomes less cool to you if everyone can get it, but you want to pretend that showing off and stirring up envy isn't your motivation? Sorry, but I'm inclined to think that you don't understand the true nature of your own motivation. You know, the solution to this is to have all limited access trophies be truly ugly emblems and hideous ships that no one actually likes. Stuff with no functional use and no aesthetic appeal so that its only value is its rarity. Then the players who want trophies for flaunting can have them, and the rest of us can still have nice looking armor and fun guns. And if having trophies that no one envies you for having doesn't satisfy you, that just proves my point. If your motivation for getting stuff that other people can't get isn't your desire to be a special little snowflake, then explain to me why you view your gear as less valuable or less cool if lots of people have it. I love the Old Guard and Eris Morn shaders because of how they look; they don't look any different to me no matter how many other people have them. When you say "If everyone had it, it would no longer be cool!" it's difficult to see that as anything but someone fighting to protect his special snowflake status. I use the weapons and armor that I like. I use emblems and shaders and ships that appeal to me. I couldn't care less whether a random stranger (or even a clanmate if I had one) is impressed. I like it. No. I don't know of any influx of people into Iron Banner or large numbers upset about Trials of Osiris being pushed back. I saw several people posting that Iron Banner wasn't worth doing any longer. But you're talking solely about your own perception of how many are participating in PvP. Anecdotal evidence and your perception don't come up to the level of statistics. PS. I never got Thorn before Taken King. I'm tired of all the people posting "Everyone has/would have weapon X!" with weapon X being a weapon I've never gotten and probably never will get.
