If you're a trapper hunter in Crucible then yes. Perfect for covering obvious paths people will take but if you save your super for shutting down others' then Keen Scout is better. Also Keen Scout is better for PvE too, just to keep a track of everything you hit

any idea how much longer the anchor sits there?

In Mayhem, with about tier 5 intellect, it'll sit there until your super is about 3/4 charged? Maybe a bit before like 3/5 charged. I don't know the exact amount of time in seconds but it does get useful in Mayhem mode since your super regenerates once the anchor has gone off and disappeared so you can put another set down and block off certain areas
