Remember a year ago when Bladedancers were OP?

Bladedancers were the bane of the crucible in fall of 2014. Invisible, damage reduction, fast, and instant killing. Till people figured out Felwinter's Lie and Fist of Panic. People found the counter. Most of the time it was a powerful shotgun with 1 or 2 shots would stop a bladedancer. Bladerdancers and Sunbreakers are the same thing. You are just seeing more sunbreakers because they are new. There are plenty of counters to the Sunbreaker. Its just going to be a while before people settle on the best. 1. Hammer of Sol is broadcasts itself clearly- consider running. That titan is going to be aggressive, out run them or hide and then ambush them when it wears off. 2. Nova Bomb or Fist of Havoc-Yeah, they will just get killed out right with these cancelling supers 3. Shadowshot- Silence them, this turns off all supers 4. Rockets are the answer to everything. 5. SNIPERS- If shotguns are the answer to the bladedancer snipers are the answer to a HoS. Hammers fall quick and are only useful up to medium range. If you are killed at long range by a hammer... they got lucky or you didn't move. 6. Good old group fire. All these tactics except snipers will work well on a Sunbreaker, just switch sniper with shotgun and they work well on Bladedancers too. EDIT: Bladedancers were barely touched in the year they have been out. and when the most significant nerf happened it wasn't to the class or the super it was to a jump ability that is used by 2 classes. Bladedancers still have a great super for PVP and just like Sunbreakers are average in end game PVE. The damage reduction of the bladedancer is more than enough that if you don't have a high impact shotgun, super, or heavy, they are going to kill you. Guess what 3 things also take out a sunbreaker? in a super? EDIT 2: Note there is legendary armor that boosts defense even more when using a solar sub class. If a Titan (who already has the most armor in the game) stacked Solar Sub-Class armor + Highest Defense Rating + Armor Buff when using HoS (which is a % of total armor). YES a Titan can become a super tank. That doesn't mean its broken it means that player has a better build than yours. HOWEVER we do not know what armor this Sunbreaker is wearing. There is armor that buffs solar sub classes and/or reduces solar damage.

  • How people can compare blade dancers to titan is beyond me. When you saw a blade coming for you it was never that bad cus you at least had time to think up a stragedy or something. Just shoot at him and when he gets close just shotgun and he dies.. plain and simple. When you see a sunbreaker there is no time to think, he throws the hammer and you die knowing you stood absolutely no chance.

  • There are so many problems with this. Armor increasing perks have 0 effect on crucible for one. Bladedancers are a single target melee range with 50% damage reduction super that lasts 20-10 seconds while sunbreaker lasts longer, has more range & more armor & does splash damage. These are not comparable because one is better in every way. Bladedancers have nothing but Quickdraw & invisibility(which isn't even exclusive to them anymore).

  • First off, unsurprisingly a Titan main. I think running is by far the most viable tactic you listed against a Sunbreaker. The thing about running in a 6v6 gametype is that if you take off running across the map you will probably run into at least one enemy more than likely resulting in your death. Sniping would work on a long range map but unfortunately not many exist. I think the SB to BD analogy is somewhat viable other than with BD, you could shoot at the super before they get close. SB doesn't have to get close. Another thing is the duration. Despite you not believing they nerfed BD, I have noticed a HUGE difference. First is the lunge range. I get short striked all the time now basically making me a sitting duck for shotguns. Second is the duration. I had time to kill one person at Blue special on Pantheon and then run straight back and kill one on Blue Stage and I was out. Meanwhile the duration of SB is much longer giving it much more kill potential. Despite all of this, I literally want one change to Sunbreaker. I want the damage reduction to be on par with all other roaming supers at 50%. If they can tank my sniper headshot because they are armor stacked and have solar armor then that is ok. But to attempt at a more balanced PVP with a class that has more reduction than others for no reason is stupid.

  • Just so you know, the golden gun kills any sunbreaker not using the solar armor perk.

      Am I the only one that thinks "finally" when it come to this subclass. I always had this thought of a titan being very tanky and a upfront class instead of hiding in a buddle and watching a Blade dancer take hits or a Sunsinger. I'm glad they can buff it using gear even further. What's a titan without being able to take a couple hits to the face? I'm sorry for the butt hurt folks that misunderstand what a "Super" is meant for. Nothing is as stressful as seeing a Titan run at you. As it should be. They are called a Titan and now they can act like it. BTW I play as a Warlock. I just kill people with my spirit fingers.

      • You can kill a sunbreakerb with 2 shotgun shots and a melee, ive been able to get up close and do that to them while they are focused on others, it's very risky but if you do it right you end their day a little early

          Running away is not a real counter. Imagine a super that projected a bubble in a 20 metre radius around your character that moved with you, and no one could enter this bubble without being killed. That would be OP as hell, especially in objective modes, yet that's essentially what HoS does. All it needs is a reduction in damage resistance down to the same level as Bladedancers. That, or remove the option to regain health on the ranged hammer throws (make it melee strikes only).

              • While I agree with the thought process blade dancer was never OP. people just panicked. As soon as people stop panicking and start using the tools given to them hammer of all won't be so scary. Tired of them tanking your shit? Throw max armor on and a chest piece that gives you more armor with that element on your subclass. Congrats. He can't one shot you now.

                  • It needs a nerf just as bladedancers did (and got). HoS is basically a ranged pre nerf bladedancer, the way I see it. Arguing "you can run away or counter it in this situation" doesn't mean that something isn't overpowered.

                    • I bump to this. I run all three classes and I have to agree there isn't a point in nerfing HoS if the Bladedancer doesn't go down with it. They're the same style of class with the same style of counters.
