I thought Guardians couldn't be Taken since they are literally comprised of Light

Guardians aren't comprised of light. They are comprised of matter. They just have bright and shiny souls of light. (messing with you)

Well to be fair in one of the moon missions where you first use the sword.... It makes no sense on how we can use something from the Darkness. Some dialogue from the Ghost causes doubt that we are truly full of light. After all, our light CAN get tainted.

In the grimoire toland speaks of how all people have some dark within them. Including gaurdians. Most refused to accept this and that is why he is labeled as a mad man as he embraced his darkside and made himself a more efficient tool for the traveler.
